Zyrtec is Going OTC! Yay!

ModelMom's picture

Ok, so I may be lacking in things to get really excited about....as is obvious with this post....but I just found out that as of January 24th (as in this Thursday!!!!) Zyrtec is going over the counter!

My son was prescribed this by his allergist for his grass & weed (NOT marijuana...come now....) allergies aka hay fever a month ago and we just ran out. This stuff has worked miracles for my sniffly sneezy guy who inherited these allergies from his dad and me (looooove genetics) and I haven't seen or heard him sniffle or sneeze since taking it. He was on Claritin for a while and it did nothing for him. Since we ran out on Sunday and his allergist is on vacation out of the country he's had to take Claritin the past few days and is sneezy again...so since his doc won't be back for another week and Zyrtec will be OTC this Thursday I am gonna be waiting at my local Walgreen's for the stuff to get placed on a rack for me to grab and stock up on.

And yes....I am so happy that the OTC price is supposed to be less than the scrip co-pay! Ahhhh, 2008 is so far so good.

Zyrtec

I'm hearing that some people are having to pay more OTC than they were through their insurance company. They must have really good insurance, lol!

ModelMom try increasing his...

...onion intake.

Don't stop his zyrtec yet. Continue as usual. Then gradually decrease the dose or use it only when necessary.

good insurance!

no kidding! wow! it cost us $15 a bottle with insurance and $9.98 OTC! i found it at walmart yesterday. sold my soul to the devil but they were carrying it a day earlier than any other store here and my boy had been miserable with pluggy nose and sneezing for three days.

onions?

onions? does this help with allergies somehow? i havent heard of it but am totally open to alternative treatments. i really would rather not have to give my son chemicals but so far it is all that has worked.
