YouTube the channel of video channels has become the place where members share their favorite songs and Hollywood movie scenes. The megamedia corporation Viacom (owners of Paramount Pictures and the CBS Television Network) has sued YouTube because of the many copyright violations it has experienced.
Viacom apparently expects to get paid for every time one of it's company's videos is placed online intead of viewing that as part of the promotion process that other media companies tolerate and even encourage.
The FOX Television Network's parent company bought the social networking site MySpace to futher the promotion of FOX motion pictures and to gain the advertising revenue from other movie studios promotions, an obvious use of an Internet site, that cost FOX hundreds of millions of dollars.
To think that Paramount's movies could be promoted for free, they don't even have to pay someone to place them online, you would think that the company's executives would be pleased with that.
