Ok, I really wasn’t going to weigh in here because I’ve never seen 'Spaced'. Not only have I not had cable tv consistantly for a few years now, but I’ve also lived in parts of the country that don’t carry BBC America (though I’ve *heard* Spaced wasn’t on the BBC, so I guess that doesn’t matter!).

There’s also the fact that I’m not such a rabid fan of the dynamic duo (Wright & Pegg) that I’d go to the lengths I would have needed to in order to watch the show. (Ok, that last bit may not be true)

So, why am I joining the forces to stop McSpaced???? It’s as simple as a ringtone, my friends.

I’ve recently bought a new minute phone solely for job hunting - or quicky phone sex with Edgar should he be interested. *Just keep it short, Edgar, it is a minute phone, after all.* But, even though it’s use will be limited, I still uploaded the ringtone from ’One Missed Call’ the very second that I could! And, now, everytime it rings, instead of feeling only the giddy delight of hearing the "ringtone of DEATH" coming from my very own mobile, I am filled with hateful thoughts of that ridiculous American remake!

I’ve never really cared all that much about the US remakes of films and tv from other countries. I just don’t watch them. But, the more that it’s been happening, the more it’s begun to really PISS ME OFF! I just finished reading an interview with Simon-my-future-husband Pegg and his comment echoed my exact thoughts on it. It simply isn’t needed to be remade! There is no good reason that ’Spaced’ couldn’t be sold to an American television company and sold AS-IS. And, the argument that American audience’s won’t "get" British humor is INSULTING. I don’t need films and tv shows diluted and dumbed down! And, that’s really what it is. They are dumbed down for American audiences and that really makes me want to find those fuckers and run them down with my CAR! (Well, if I had a car)

And, of course, there’s the way that it’s been handled. When I CONCEIVED of the idea for ’Stalking Edgar’ (er, still working on that) the very FIRST thing I did was contact Edgar! I hadn’t even written the fucking title page! Considering that this film is fiction, is not using anything but my own concept and even his name was changed, I really didn’t need to do that. But, ya know - wow, how shocking is this! - I respect the man enough to let him know what I am doing.

And, that’s what it comes down to all the way around. Respect. It DOES NOT MATTER that Simon, Jessica and Edgar didn’t have any say in what is done with the show. If these fuckbags were actually fans, then they would have had the sense to do what even this lowly, unproduced writer did! But, of course, we all know that they’re not fans - they only see dollar signs to be gained from a project that they weren’t fucking clever enough to come up with themselves!

DOWN WITH MCSPACED! I know I won’t be watching and hopefully no one else will either! This crap really does need to stop. Americans are not stupid and we don’t need anything from abroad to be "Westernized" for us to understand it!

In short - FUCK MCSPACED! You can't replace the original!
