David Michael Green is a Professor of political science who points to the actual signs of the American empire demise. This is the end of bullying, attacking and occupying expansion process that lasted for about one century.

This is an end to a process which has been well described and elaborated by Professor Eric Waddell in the research article "The United States' Global Military Crusade (1945-)". He tells of the 44 countries, democratic or not, which were attacked by the American military, some of them again and again, since 1945 until our days. Eric Waddell is a Professor of Geography at Laval University and Associate Director of the Center for Research on Globalization at the University of Ottawa, Canada.

Stephen Kinzer is not a researcher or an investigative journalist, as a veteran New York Times foreign correspondent he authors a book, "Overthrow: America's Century of Regime Change from Hawaii to Iraq". He describes the American overthrow of 14 governments of other countries, including the most ugly intervention in Iran in her full democratic era. Kinzer is the author of several books, including All the Shah's Men and Bitter Fruit. He has just recently left the New York Times.

In a television interview he explains: "The invasion of Iraq in 2003 was not an isolated episode. It was the culmination of a 110-year period during which Americans overthrew governments that displeased them for various ideological, political, and economic reasons".

Kinzer draws the pattern of using the country's military might in the service of corporation owners and their interests, which repeats itself from the sugar plants in Hawaii to Halliburton in Iraq: "First come the business operations, then comes the flag. It's the flag that follows business".

Hawaii's Last Queen from PBS is a fascinating documentary which shows the American occupation pattern haven't changed much during the last century.

If I'm hearing right the voices from around the globe then most of the people of the world see the demise of the American empire as a happy and blessed change and are certain they will have more freedom now.
