Yesterday on Hannity and Colmes, a Fox News show, a debate raged over whether or not Yale should have admitted Sayed Rahmatullah Hashemi, former deputy foreign secretary of the Taliban. A quote from Hashemi from December 2005 used Israel as an example of a United States Al Qaeda.
Ann Coulter, a conservative author, was present and the debate raged between the liberals and conservatives on the show. The liberal argument was that through education would the perception of people and events of the world change. The conservatives argued that one of the few spots should not have been given to some one with a 4th grade level of education.
Apparently there was also question of whether or not he lied about his education level. Of coursem, his current GPA was displayed and he's almost a 3.4. That either raises questions about our level of education in the US or if Yale really is quality. It was a pretty intense discussion to watch. Personally, I think education is great however I don't see the point in rewarding individuals who were complicit to the mistreatmet of others. That could be said about alot of people I'm sure...
