Writing Goals: Week of 4/17 - 4/23/06

accomplishments | accountability | goals | writing

Okay, this week has already started, so hopefully that means you are already making good progress on this week's goals. Be sure to include what you have already accomplished this week since we're already a few days in. This will help you not only feel good about what you have done, but help you keep a record of the progress you are making as well.

Don't forget to post your goals in a visible place so you have that daily reminder.

Remember: If you don't know where you are going, how will you get there?

Let us know your goals or just write them down for yourself - just be sure to use specific, measurable goals so you can track your progress.

Here were my goals for last week:
1. Write one new article for submission, between 700-1200 words.
2. Write one 750 word entry to writing challenge, due before Thursday.
3. Transcribe author notes and begin first chapter of client's book.
4. Finish 1/3 (or more) of instructional design project.
5. Blog 3-5 times per week per blog.
6. Find host and begin setting up website (at least main page plus 2 additional pages).
7. Write 1-2 more entries in poetry contest.
8. Design 1-3 new products for cafe press.

Here's how I did:
1. Didn't get this done
2. Finished and entered!
3. Haven't finished this yet (and really need to get on it!)
4. Didn't get my info from my client until this week, so I'm just getting started
5. I think I only did 2 blogs this week per site, too much going on.
6. Found a web host, in the process of designing home page.
7. Nope, didn't get it done.
8. Nope.

Wow, I did have ambitious goals. It doesn't help that I also sprained my neck so everything is much harder for me right now.

Here are my goals for this week, 4/17-23:
1. Complete ID project for Sunday deadline.
2. Complete 1-2 entries for poetry contest and get ready to send out.
3. Write 750 word entry for writing challenge.
4. Attend author's symposium and writers' meeting on Saturday.
5. Complete home page and 1-2 more web pages.
6. Blog at least 3 times per week per site.

Oh, I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but I'll add it to my own list as I think of it.

What are YOUR goals? Share them here if you want additional accountability or write them down for yourself - you'll be glad you did.

Writing Goals 4/17 - 4/23/06

I was wondering how everything went for you. I already had this week's goals typed up for my own benefit, so this will be nice and quick.

First though, last week's goals.

1. I will edit the article that I didn't get to last week and submit it.
2. I will finish the rewrite on the "old" article and submit that too.
3. I will write two more pages of notes for the novel.
4. I will work on obtaining the materials I need for the article I set aside.
5. I will write a short review of the book I just read.

And how did I do? Not bad considering there was also a holiday to prepare for.

1. I didn't get to this one at all.
2. I finished and submitted this article.
3. Two pages of notes complete.
4. I obtained the materials I needed but didn't have time to go over them.
5. Yes, I did this, but it's really short. I'd like to do a more extensive review, but I have to find out if the magazine I'm interested in takes reviews for YA fantasy.

Yes, still room for improvement obviously.

Writing Goals for the Week 4/17-4/23:
1. I will finish the article that has been dormant for the past few weeks. (I've done a bit of work on this)
2. I will write a new article. (Started working on this)
3. I will write two more pages of notes for my novel.
4. I will go over the research materials for the article I'm working on.

Someday, I'm going to get all of them.

Have a good week writing.

Kinda missed this week - oops!

I completely missed posting goals for this week, SO sorry!

Please feel free to post your update here, and if you want to post your goals for this week, just add it to this blog and then I'll post a new goals blog for next week, seeing as it's already Wednesday.

I DID just finish my ID project and three poems for the local contest, but I'm behind on everything else (including sleep)!

Don't feel bad...

Don't feel bad. I forgot too. These past few weeks have been rotten. I was still working on last week's goals this week. I'll go into that more later when I post my goals for next week. For now, it's back to work. ;)
