Writing

books | Poetry | writing

For years I have been an avid writer. Mainly I wrote poetry until a few years ago when I started working on a short story and now I'm attempting a book.

Writing a book is hard work. I never thought it would take so much time and effort to do something like this. I have a new found respect for all the authors that I love and don't love so much.

You write and write, and then edit it and then end up writing some more. Once you think you finished a chapter and you read through it....you decide to take things out and add some more. It's like an endless process.

Poetry on the other hand. I just write whats in my head and leave it as is. I do edit a little if it's extra special and most are, but generally I leave it as it comes out. Seems more raw to me.

How do you write? is it the same way or differently?
