Writers with an Attitude!
You know, I never realized that writers were such a critical bunch, so vocal, so opinionated, soooooo ....dare I say it....intolerant. Some of the comments, some of the name-calling, some of the insults that I read on these blog sites are really hateful. Its like no one had better have an idea or opinion different than Numero Uno....or else.
I am wondering if its just the nature of the beast(writer). When you think about it, writers have a history of locking themselves up in a room alone, hunched over a typewriter(in the old days) or a pc(nowadays) for all intents and purposes, dead to the world. Maybe it takes a bit of antisocialness to develop a person like that. But gee, it would be nice if we could all just get along......

My feeling is this...
I have seen it too. I enjoy debate when done with intelligent arguments and open minds, but there is a lot of name calling and the like here.
I get the impression that those doing these things are one of two types:
1) Very young. Some come across as very young and thus confuse debate with arguing/fighting. They are looking not for an exchange of ideas, but instead for a winner or loser.
2) Those seeking attention. I think there are a few in here that think if they are aggressive and arrogant that it will draw attention.
Also, I would call using the word "writer" to describe those few on here would be a very loose interpretation of the word.
Good post, though!!

Probably true
Well Thanks. You are probably right about the "very young" or " attention-seeking" thing. Guess that means we just have to give them time?
EGO...
Good writers usually have BIG egos.
