Writers who Blog and Bloggers who Blog

I’m relatively new to this Blogging concept. Perhaps it is because I am an Aussie, and we can be a bit behind technological trends, though I know that many of my country folk had discovered blogging long before I did.

My first attempt as I have mentioned in a previous post was purely to document my overseas trip last year – and I must admit I had not thought about any other uses for Blogging.

However, on the long Christmas break I discovered a free site for creating a blog and experimented there. Just bits and pieces of “stuff about my daily living and thoughts. Mmmm – interesting concept. It was just for me on a site that I think does little promotion. Very private and okay for me at that time.

About that time I also discovered some other sites – and I found WritingUp which had some opportunity to earn some money. My interest was increasing. Later I found Blogger Party, and my interest increased even more.

On both these sites I discovered several things.

1. There was much more information – people were willing to share their knowledge of Blogging, Increasing your visitors and probability of earning more money, and much much more.
2. There was a community – a community of people that would not only read your writings, (and click onto an ad from time to time), but comment and encourage.
3. That there are Writers who Blog and Bloggers who write in Blogs.

I’m fascinated about the difference between Writers and Bloggers. There seem to be professional writers who are busy on the two sites that I mentioned above (and no doubt other blogging sites as well), I think these must be the ones who like to use correct spelling and grammar.

I get the feeling that Bloggers are mostly those people who write but for whom spelling and grammar are of no importance. They don’t mind if their headline is missing a letter or two, or has a typo that sometimes causes confusion, or that their writing is written in haphazard fashion. For them capitalisation of letters can be ignored, proper construction of sentences is of little value.

Bloggers and Writers can co-exist, in fact support and encourage each other in a very cosy community.

I’m very happy I found these communities. I salute you all.

What an interesting observation, Tottie,

but I think you might get a flood of "Type 2" replies - like ants when someone steps on the anthill.
