Wow-Wie! Michelle, the Golfer and Looker

Saw Michelle Wie on 60 Minutes last night -- again. She's been a regular on that program, and she never looked better.

She's 6-2, 160 pounds of 16-year-old teen zest, something out of an anime comic that can swing a golf club like King Kong and look like Miss Universe doing it.

Michelle Wie is the next great phenom of our age, even a cut above tennis babe Maria Sharipova who won Wimbledon at age 16 but probably doesn't have to win anything else while using her blonde bombshell looks to rack up $20 million in product endorsements.

Wie's initial endorsement package is worth $12 million this year and is bound to grow, and her first couple of appearances on the LPGA Tour have been vastly successful in terms of pulling fan interest. In her most recent tournament foray in Hawaii she almost won it, narrowly missing a putt that would have put her into a playoff.

Now she's a mean one, too, who thinks she's hot enough to challenge the guys on the PGA Tour and dreams of playing in the Masters, or so she told 60 Minutes.

One look at her while she's setting up a shot and swinging the driver, and you can get an idea what a cold-blooded killer looks like when he or she sets up a victim. Nothing but focus and raw determination, a competitive machine destined to make men and women golf rivals cry real tears for many years.

And, as a marketing engine, she will put Tiger Woods to shame. Whereas Tiger has the personality of a cardboard box, Michelle Wie has the sensuality of a leopard and the venomous eye of a cobra, while sporting world-class modeling dimensions. In other words, the complete, sensational package (sorry Maria).

One thing that looks almost tacky, though, is how much she looks like a walking billboard, wearing so much jewelry, makeup and non-golfing clothes that she reminds one of a bling-bling-laden rap star rather than a golfer.

But she's hot. A scorcher in a sport -- women's golf -- that needs some heat.
