chocolate | Health

Chocolate is better for you and more enjoyable.
Here is some researched information from respected U.S. and International universities.
Eat 50 to 75 grams of DARK chocolate daily, because:

2. It is rich in iron, zinc, potassium, magnesium & copper;
3. It can lower blood pressure and cholesterol;
4. It helps prevent blood clots;
5. The flavonoids and antioxidants in chocolate help protect against breast cancer;
6. Chocolate boosts your mood, triggering the brain to release endorphins and raise your serotonin level;
7. It works better than codiene as a natural cough suppressant;
8. If sweetened with xylitol, it prevents dental cavities;
9. It doesn't cause acne;
10.It keeps you young - all the above points help retard the aging process.

Sorry, but I'd rther broccoli, really.

I really would - I'm not a great fan of chocolate, and I love my "trees."

Check out my blog

Broccoli is not what I'd go for as a snack,

but I definitely enjoy it with some meals. Fruit and vegetables have to play a major part in any healthy diet, but red wine and dark chocolate have a legitimate place as well. Both consumed within reason, of course.

I assume you're talking

I assume you're talking about 'unsweetened' chocolate? Otherwise health-wise you're doing far more damage than good. Sugar is poison.

Chocolate again

Chocolate sweetened with xylotol is best. It will even reduce and prevent dental cavities. A pity it's so expensive.

Oh yeah?

Try denying some m&m's to a woman dealing with PMS and stupidity. She'll bash your head with a tire iron~ and is that so wrong? heh

Chocolate for PMS

It's the magnesium and the endorphins that feel so good for PMS - and Menopause, too.

I love dark chocolate but...

I just blogged about this. Dark chocolate definitely tastes better than broccoli, but I still believe broccoli is healthier. Yes, dark chocolate certainly is healthy, but let's not forget that it still has fat, cholesterol, and sugar.

For real antioxidant health, I turn to berries.

Berries definitely have an

Berries definitely have an important place in a healthy diet, but so does dark chocolate. People have to read the nutrition panel on the pack and only eat good quality, natural dark chocolate, with a low sugar content and a high (70%-85%)cocoa content. If sweetened with xylitol, then there is no worry about sugar. If cocoa butter is the only source of fat in the chocolate (and in good quality chocolate it is), then it won't contain cholesterol.
