World's First Science Fiction Magazine Closes Its Doors

With magazines becoming easier to start, many titles, especially fiction magazines, face fierce competition, and if advertising and readership is low, it is difficult for a publication to remain in circulation. At some point, many publications have to sell or discontinue publication. This is the unfortunate fate of an for science fiction's first magazine, having been in print since 1926.
Unfortunate it is indeed for the magazine publishing industry to say goodbye to an industry first. According to Paizo Publishing, the publication of Amazing Stories, the industry's first science fiction magazine, will cease along with Undefeated, a magazine devoted to gaming strategies and tactics. For the past year, both titles were on hiatus while Paizo tried to find some way to keep them in print.
Paizo is offering active subscribers the opportunity to switch their Amazing Stories or Undefeated subscriptions to Dragon or Dungeon, the company's continuing titles. They also have the option of requesting a refund or obtain credit for the company's online store.
Amazing Stories was a bit of magazine history. It's a shame they couldn't find a way to keep it runnin or find a buyer.
