World of Warcraft
So a while back my boyfriend got me into playing wow. I had a cool rogue but then I quit playing. I just didn't have the time between school and work and boyfriend and family. So now just recently I started playing again and I have a hunter who I think I like better than my original character which seems sorta terrible because it took soo much time to level the first one! Anyways I guess I would be interested in hearing what types of characters everyone thinks are best and why, in case I start another:)

Why I like the Paladin
I play several different characters, including a fighter, thief, warlock, hunter, druid, and paladin. I like the fighter for brute force, they can take down a mob pretty fast. Druids are cool too, shapeshifting, spells, and thier own land. They're probably my second favorite. Thieves I like because it's nice to sneak up and bash a mob. Warlocks and hunters have pets they control. But my favorite, and the one I've been playing the most is a paladin.
A lot of people bash this class, claiming they're not as good as fighters, taking forever to kill something. They don't have enough manna like a priest, so having them as a primary healer is bad. And basically they play second fiddle in all cases. While that's not an untrue argument, it doesn't tell the whole story.
Solo, I think their the best, with druid coming in second. They get top armor, healing, and can use anything but ranged weapons. In groups, I think they are a great complement to any group. True, if you have a priest or fighter, they'll be 2nd in the appropriate role. But they can be the primary fighter or healer if necessary. Also, because of their heavy armor and other spells, they have good survivablity and I've often been the last one standing in a large fight. This is good because when either the last guy falls, or I can get away, I can start reviving the party so people don't have to run back.
Their spells, when properly used, can be extremely beneficial. Auras are very nice! Give everyone an armor bonus in a tough fight, or let the mobs take damage whenever they hit you or a party membery; extra boost to fire, ice, or magic always a plus! Seals and blessings are your friend. Ones that stun, prevent mobs from leaving; prevent someone from being trapped; help with damage; add mana or hps back to you when hit; and immunity for 10 seconds can be the difference between life and death. Oh, and don't forget their special spells against the undead!
I think when you play a paladin, you have to remember you don't have a fighter or a priest but a combination, with a few bonuses. Trying to play it as either leads to frustration. Playing as a complement to a party leads to a nice boost to a party's overall healing, damage dealing, and survivablity.
