Working On A Project

girl on girl | internet marketing | opinions | reviews

I haven't written here in a few days because I've been doing a lot of a different type of writing. I've decided I have too much free time on my hands, yet I'm not making enough money online, so I'm creating another website. But this one will be much different than my other sites.

In essence, I'm creating a review/opinion site. Basically, the premise is that I will review almost anything I feel like, or give opinions on almost anything. Yeah, I know, part of it sounds like a blog, only this is in a totally different format. Here I can rant; on the site, no ranting allowed.

My initial goal was to write 50 reviews or opinions, so I'd have some kind of idea of how I might think about the layout of the thing. I've written 40 reviews in 4 days, and I think that's actually enough for me to now start thinking about how I want to lay the site out.

The reviews are between 250 and 900 words thus far; not overly long, not too short. I mean, 250 words might seem a little short, but just how much can one say about some things? After all, just a very short list as a teaser, but categories thus far range from products to books to food to social types of issues. Yeah, there's more, but the idea is that reviews can be, and will be, about anything.

Also, I'm going to set up something so that people can sign up to receive new reviews through email, and also can ask me to review something, so I'm not always coming up with these things on my own. After all, part of most of the reviews involves some research anyway, so why not, eh?

And there you go. Who knows, maybe one day I'll be known as the answer man, eh? Stay tuned.

very nice idea,

but i guess that eventually you'd want to settle for a narrow niche? At least that what the experts say is best. Anyway, Good Luck!

Experts aren't always correct, Zany,...

and, in this case, it's a mix of both anyway. The niche is reviews, period, though I know they'd expect reviews about one thing all the time. Thing is, my mind just doesn't work that way, so the niche is going to have to be the reviews/opinions, short form, and, well, it'll stand or fall on its own merit.

Besides, once again, it's more of a labor of love that anything else, I figure.

Right on, Catfish

I know what you mean about making nothing Catfish. I'm persisting with blogs for the moment and am thinking about something not too different from what you're going to do. The theme thing is the accepted wisdom but I'm not so sure I can do that. Well done for writing forty reviews in four days! Amazin'. I thought I would start with a free site and take it from there if it starts to work better than this. I'm not prepared to spam and it seems a lot of people are making money by doing things that aren't much different from spamming. Buying material for blogsites! Egad! I have to find my own way and it has to leave a good taste in people's mouths, not a spam taste (never liked the stuff). Where has the real world gone to? Is Lord Dread winning after all? I had better keep an eye on that post. Good luck with the new site.

The problem with free sites, Xingtiao,...

is that there's no amount of optimization you can do to drive traffic to your site by optimization, because it's all controlled by the free site. So, the only way you could drive people there is to spam them. My way, if I optimize it properly, I can send stuff out or not, and yet Google will index my pages, and, if I optimize them properly, then I'll end up high enough on the search engines that I'll get natural visitors, without having to spam anyone. And, who knows, it just might catch on. At a seminar today, I mentioned it to a few people and they liked the idea, so there you go.

The Site Is Officially Up

And if you'd like to check it out, click on this link. Still some things to be taken care of, but it's functioning now.

I bought one Catfish

and it's in my own name. Here it is http://hughmacdougall.com
I was amazed the domain was available. I'm slowly getting it the way I want with wordpress. Navigation is a bit strange at the moment but I'll find the information I need or get the help I need to change it so it works more smoothly for visitors. I'll check your site out in a moment. I am going to check in here from time to time to comment and keep in touch with people. I hope you visit me sometime too. I'll be seeing you.

I'll definitely visit, Xingtiao,...

and, who knows, I might even comment from time to time. However, you probably won't know it's me, with the anonymity and all. :-) I would expect your name to be free, though; unless it was also the name of a famous person, you'd be good to go.
