More and more moms are neglecting to go back to work after having
children. Instead, they are working from home on either a freelance
basis, or by starting their own home based business. A work from
home mom will have the ability to still make money, but at the same
time care for her children. This is the major advantage of being a
work from home mom.
There are many different areas of work for stay at home moms. In
order to choose the one that is best for you, all you need to do is a
little bit of research. Researching work for stay at home moms will
ensure you that you make the right decision as to what industry you
are going to take on. The best place for this research is the internet.
There are thousands of websites devoted to work for stay at home
moms. Each one of them has a different slant on the field, so it is
important to try and visit as many of them as possible.
When starting a home based business, a work from home mom should
look at what fields they have experience in. If you were a newspaper
columnist before you had children, you may want to start a freelance
writing business. This way you already have experience in the industry.
This is not to say that experience is necessary in order to start a home
based business; it just makes things easier from the get go.
Work for stay at home moms has both its advantages and disadvantages.
The obvious advantages are that you will never have to go back to the
corporate world. You will be your own boss, and will get to set your
own hours. On top of that, you will be able to watch your kids, which
will allow you to save money on daycare or a baby sitter.
The disadvantages of a work from home mom may not be as obvious.
Keep in mind that your kids will not know that you are working, so
they will be nagging you all day long. They will want you to make
them lunch, and take them to the park. Depending on their age, you
may be able to explain your situation to them. But remember, this is
not always a disadvantage. One of the reasons to be a work from
home mom is the flexibility that it offers. If you want to take a break
at the park you can do it whenever you feel like it, something that you
could not do in the corporate world.
Overall, a work from home mom will be able to experience flexibility
and freedom. Two traits that everybody would like to have in a job!

It's hard to balance
It's hard to balance writing work and parenting, for me. I need to set up some sort of a schedule - like from this time to this time, toddler son watches videos and mom works. I feel so disorganized doing this just here and there.
