Another attempt to be posted here by a thinking American about to be labeled as intolerant, bigoted, hate-mongering, and generally despised for having an opinion opposing that of the gay left.
A few definitions first
1) Left--not meaning--having exited the forum--no, it means the politcally left, whose god of tolerance must be sacrificed to at the expense of common sense among us.
2) Intolerance--label that must be placed on all those who don't tolerate all manner of useless, mindless patterns of behavior, because, after all, these mindless patterns are the way most people do things, SO IT MUST BE RIGHT! (Wait--intolerance--which is the intolerant--my head is spinning).
3) Gay--in the classic sense of the word--characterized by joyful exuberance, happy, a feeling and assurance of wonderful and continuous devotion to a zest for life.
So, you're traveling along about 1969, and some professed homosexuals--people who had openly told the world that they prefer sexual action and bonding with A) Men if they are men and B) Women if they are women (those of the same sex). These folks are so blissfully happy and carefree that they want to be called gay. But they took it a step further to transform the word gay into a noun. As all our third grade friends and children know, a noun is a person, place, or thing. So our vocabulary of connotation had to expand to include Gay, gayness, gay rights, gay marches, (never a picnic in the park, for sure), and of course the infamous quote, "I was born gay." Even today, when one uses the word "correctly," --in the classic sense, one is nearly taken aback for two to five seconds and has to think, rehearsing in their own mind, "----(wait), certainly not--, oh yeah, gay. Okay, yeah, gay, as in pre-1969 gay. OK."
Fast forward to 2005, (a couple of months back, yes I know it's Feb '06 now) a prominent woman basketball player states for the first time publicly that she is gay. Coincidentally, she had just garnered a contract for a cruise line catering to lesbian women. Her quote astounds one and all: "I am so tired of being miserable, so today, I am announcing that I am gay." Uhhh--miserable still does mean what it means, as ever. Perhaps you can't really be gay until you're announced--or outted--but only in certain situations--such as this one was.
Anybody hate me yet?
It's not my goal, but it seems inevitable. After all, accusing one of common sense deficits is hateful--Unless your a Democrat, of course. But that's another political discussion. What I'm getting at is the hijacking of the definitions of words--classic definitions that had stood the test of time, and suddenly--boom! Today, this word means something entirely different, AND IT'S OURS. WE OWN IT! So quit picking on us.
I do agree that mauling people in public, as I mentioned was happening to those loud-mouthed homosexuals in 1969, is unconscionable and inexcusable. Our local police call it what it is (no hijacks necessary) assault and battery. Now, assault of a person is clearly defined as illegal and felonious--unlike this assault on the English language.
Truly, felons should be arrested and convicted in the speediest manner possible--it's in the Constitution--right to a speedy and fair trial.
But now we've been subjected to these 37 years of "Gays" trying to normalize something that is patently abnormal. (Uh--normal, in mathematical terms is a reference to a mean average, like bowling scores). Face it, people. All the shouting in the world will not normalize something that is obviously rooted in choice--including choosing to react to your own feelings in particualr ways. Examine the facts, you will see that no one ever naturally fathered a child with another man. It can't be done. (Please, don't try).
If I am hateful for pointing out the obvious, then Oprah Winfrey, (who I think is only on TV because she has a penchant for the obvious), must also be hateful. Yet, so many love her show, and still will, duped or not.
And yes, I am a Christian. As I view this entire situation, hatred of homosexuals is not the answer either. Rounding up groups of people who deserve execution is nigh impossible--war criminals, for instance. Of course we all know South America is the place to look for those. Now--please carefully listen to this--God stated in Old Testament Law that homosexuals (as well as adulterers, by the way) were to be put to death. But this is the New Testament Law christians live under today. Our hope and prayer is that all men repent of their evil ways, and be washed to enjoy once again the privileges of a relationship close to the Almighty God. Only his righteousness can be conferred on us by Him anyway--our own righteousness is as filthy rags. When we can all experience this--we can all be gay--in the classic sense. God commands forgiveness at all costs, not hatred. Let us all turn to God for it and put away evil from ourselves.
Last definition for you--more of an acronym
EVIL everything vile involving lies, (which we all know come from Satan--the father of lies).
I would challenge anyone who wants to stomp their foot down against Bible truth--read it, read it ALL, before you throw out the description of eternal life God has prepared for you.
