Winter?

Submitted by gellybaby on December 5, 2006 - 12:23pm.

Today was a beautiful sunny and warm day here in S.W France. We drove to the next village for a little shopping. We drove up the valley and up through the woods where a sign warns you that "The hunting of Mushrooms is forbidden". The sunlight was dappled through the trees which still have not lost all their leaves. It looked so beautiful shining on the gold, reds and browns of the leaves like precious stones. The fields were all shades from beige through to dark chocolate brown where they have been ploughed ready for winter.

This afternoon there were butterflies on the vine which covers the house. There are still roses flowering in the garden. The cows are still out in the fields. Everything is ready for winter yet it feels like Spring and the countryside still looks like Autumn. No wonder Nature is confused

The way you describe SW France makes it sounds like michigan in October....Michigan has been in winter weather for a month now....Spring is along way off Michigan residence and are Canadian friends next door:)

Thank-you Kemo, yes it is wonderful. I like to describe the countryside because I love it so and because after years of living in suburbia it is so beautiful and there is always something to see. I wish I could paint. It is lovely that other people in the World can enjoy my humble efforts.
