Why Polygamy?

marriage

Yes, why polygamy? Well, why not?

Marriage is defined as the legal union of two people, a man and a woman as husband and wife. Beautiful.

But now this definition is open for scrutiny. Homosexuals want that it should be flexible to mean: a union of two people, not necessarily a man and a woman. Fine if they want it to be that way we can stretch the definition of marriage to the union of two loving human beings of any sexes.

While the definition can be strecthed on the basis of gender, the point is why cannot it be stretched on the basis of number. How about this definition of marriage: A marriage is a union of two or any number of people as husbands and wife or wives and husbands. Whats wrong? As long as people are loving and willing but not hurting in a union, it should have legal sanction.

The point again is if marriage can mean the union of two members of any sex then why cannot it be modified to include more then two members.

People have the freedom to chose their
sexual preferences and marriage partners. Thats why homosexuality has been accepted. If it's nobody's business who X sleeps with it should be nobody's business how many people he/she sleeps with. If it's legit for X to marry Y of the same sex or Z of the opposite sex why cannot be it be legit for X to marry A, B and C as long as X, A, B and C are willing.

Just as gender should not be an issue, should number be?

For that matter, if number and sex does mot matter, maybe age should not matter. Our prisons are filling up with people who have "loved" someone who was not of legal age to have sex.

I am going to skip right past "consent" and go to something that has been a big issue just a few miles from here. A man was convicted of having sex with a neighbor's sheep, possibly several of them....over a long period of time. There was finally a DNA test done on him and a couple of the sheep, and he was caught and arrested...for sodomy. Apparently, one of the sheep has been irritable since this began happening, but other than that, no one was harmed. According to the above criteria, perhaps this arrangement with sheep A and sheep B could be considered a marriage, of sorts. Would this be OK?

And how about adultery? If Z and X don't discover that M is dallying with Y, then no one is hurt, are they? And perhaps......well, never mind.

Please remember that here we are discussing about consenting adults. Thank you madam.

Here's why numbers are an issue. Let's say that both gay marriage and polygamy are legal. A gay couple can get married, and it has absolutely nothing to do with my marriage. I still enjoy all the same benefits of marriage that I did before they got married. But say my husband decides to take another wife. That most definitely affects my rights as a wife.
