Why marketing shall always stay

Graduates, MBAs and others looking for jobs often express their dislike for marketing jobs - jobs that require approaching customers and selling products.

The truth is that whether you directly approach customers or not, you always have to market yourself, whether you work in the back office, or are an entrepreneur.

Bad mouthing others, backstabbing, spreading rumors etc are ways used by many employees to gain that extra edge over their counterparts.

If you can't speak up, or can't voice your opinion, sooner or later someone else will be seen as a better replacement for you.

Yes your work does speak for itself. But you have to be able to take credit for your work, and not let others get a free ride.

Similarly, if you have your own business, the ball is entirely in your own court. If you dont stand up and be noticed now, you probably never will be.

We must consider marketing as an opportunity to get to know customers better, and understand the ways of the open market,
