Why I Want To Marry A Geek

Have I ever blogged about Bradie? Or maybe it was Brodie, I can't remember...
Either way, he was a guy that I was matched up with through some online dating service a while ago. According to their advanced system... we were supposed to be a good fit. So we started emailing... exchanged photos, etc... He was 35... so, he was a good 8 years older than me and for some reason, the age difference seemed like an eternity to me. I just couldn't get over it... that and the fact that I swore that I could see some gray in his hair.
Anyway... after our first time chatting online, I knew... just knew that he wasn't my type... I had no desire to meet him, no desire to talk on the phone...no desire to even contiue chatting... But he just thought I was sweet and nice and everything he was looking for. I ended up blocking him from my messenger... only to have him email me several weeks later wondering where I had disappeared to. I felt horrible so I unblocked him and made up some excuse about having had to delete my messenger due to a hacker, etc., etc... which he bought and responded to with his own story......snore.
Anyway, I managed to keep him at bay by never being online (or showing up as not being online). So he would leave me messages about how he was sorry he'd missed me... and maybe we could chat soon... etc. I kept my responses short and polite... and only checked them maybe once a week. Finally, he left me a message with a long story about having a sick parent (which I'm sure is terrible)... and would I like to meet after things got back to normal? I never replied... in fact I never used that messenger again... or checked that email. I don't know what else I could've done or said to make him get the hint, short of saying "I'M NOT INTERESTED!" (Hmm... maybe that would've worked)
So what does all this have to do with why I want to marry a geek? Well, it's funny, but ever since I've started blogging about MySpace, I receive a lot of emails from people either asking about MySpace trackers... or from people who have their own blogs and want me to help them promote their blogs, which I don't mind. But the ones who really stand out are the guys who have tech blogs... *sigh*... why is it that those tech-types are so appealing? They'd never really caught my eye before...
In my early 20s I had a thing for musicians... probably because I was involved in choir and even in a band. I especially had a weakness for bass players. But I quickly learned that bass players seemed to come with a lot of issues... and were not the most stable people.
So when I started to do the whole online dating thing last year... it was kind of nice to be able to talk and go out with people who were so different. There was Joel the cop, um, some guy who worked for the Coast Guard (I CANNOT remember his name!), Shane the single father, Noel the asshole, Rob the almost divorced guy who actually IS a techie... but we hardly ever talked about computer stuff... he had ANOTHER favorite subject... anyway, I stopped the online dating thing shortly before I came to Blogger Party...
And now I find that I'm strangely attracted to guys who have their own websites and who can speak "HTML"... guys who know about promoting their sites and content and who actually find this stuff interesting. Why? Because techies (not trekkies) fascinate me... these are guys who find small-talk boring. They won't ask you how your day was... or talk about what they had for dinner at length... because who cares?
So yeah...that's my fantasy (for now anyway)... I want to find a cool techie who is in his late 20s - very, very early 30s, has his own website, visits digg.com and slashdot on a daily basis, is a member of a bunch of different tech forums... and who won't bore me with talk about cars (ugh!)... oh, and he HAS to be taller than me (I'm 5'7)... with dark hair and dark eyes... and.... ok, I'm just kidding (sort of)...
And yeah, I know this isn't match.com... and I'm not really looking to find someone on Blogger Party... or anywhere online really... but hey, anything can happen, right? Of course, I might change my mind in a week or so and decide I have a thing for chefs or writers or who knows... I'm sure it's not just me that goes through different stages of the kinds of people they're attracted to...
Man, it sure has been a while since I've rambled on and on in a blog like this on BP... I've kind of missed it ;-)

Oh OC...
It would be a crime to label you as just a musican or scientist or writer, etc... you fall under your own category... not sure what yet... ;-)

"Dude!"
"Don't shout, dude! My head still hurts."
"Sorry, mine too. But did you see this chick talkin' about O Ceallaigh?"
"I'd rather she was talkin' 'bout me."
"With that PC? And you wouldn't know html from a hernia."
"Aum ..."
"Alright, alright. But she doesn't know what category to place O Ceallaigh in."
"And you do?"
"Sure ... um ... ah ..."
"Gently. You don't want him to write you out, now do you?"
"Ack!!"
"I know one thing."
"Yeah?"
"If milady has a thing about gray hair, ol' buddy O Ceallaigh's gonna have to invest a whole lot of money in Grecian Formula."
"Gee, you make it sounds like he has the same kind of luck we do."
"Y'think?"
:)
Dudes
I think the dudes need to chill out and stop overanalyzing everything... Still they make for a good read ;-) hahaha

But then they wouldn't be the Dudes, would they? They might get over themselves and actually accomplish something ...

Is Being Evil No Longer Chic?
What the #!F'in #@%#**#! does it take to measure up with tech-boys? Sweet Lucifer I am befuddled by this attraction to this type... Bass Players I can understand-(Evil "loser" Keyboard player here)- I even can swallow the attraction to the Scientific Purist here at Bloggerparty; hell He gets my blood boiling when he talks all algaeish and what have you, but Tech Guys? Ahhh....#@%#**#
Evil is a whole different animal...

Apparently, I was sitting in the same boat as O'Ceallaigh when you gals were all hot and bothered by musicians; only I was in the very back, discretely drilling small holes below the waterline of the hull of the boat with my pen-knife. Women and Children Last! MOO-HA-HA-HAAAAA!!

Don't worry Evil Bob...
Musicians may be out (for now) but EVIL is always in ;-)

You must approach the Geek
My advice for catching the geek...I recommend going after them aggressively. Since there thoughts are typically on code or interesting ways to improve download times, they forget the art of seduction. What you have observed about their lack of small-talk is actually a lack of social aptitude, especially when it comes to women. My brother is a geek of the tech variety. I recommend him. He makes the height cut at 6'6" and is generally a very nice person. I'm not sure if he does any blogging or anything but he is good with the CS stuff and has made a good career out of it. I am rather ignorant of these types of things, largely because I've had him as a resource and I don't really see the point in specializing in the same area...okay that's bull, I'm just lazy and all the math associated with CS seems like hard work.
Good luck with the hunt for techies...remember be aggressive.
Getting the geek...
Dr. Mortgage...thanx so much for the advice! I think the fact that techies seem anti-social is something else that appeals to me... I can be incredibly anti-social when I want to be...
If I happen to run into a cool techie who meets my criteria I'll be sure to "be aggressive" as you suggested...
By the way... is your brother single? ;-)

I don't think you know what you want!
Next week it'll be the fat guy on the shoe shine stand. The week after that, it'll be the guy with a lump in his pants. What ever happenened to real women wanting to be with real men? In truth, it's a lack-luster personality looking for the same in a man.
Use your imagination! Imagine it's me you're going after:)
Why settle for beans and weenies--when you can have easter eggs and sausage for breakfast?

Easter Eggs & Sausage??
I don't know if I'm supposed to feel hungry, turned on... or dirty. :-/
Not sure which part of my post led you to believe that I wasn't looking for a real man... ?
Sheesh... I'm 27... I'm not really looking for someone to marry right now, so I'm just going by what I happen to be attracted to. If by real man you mean "older" I'm not interested... I want someone who shares the same interests, values and goals in life as I do... mainly someone who I can grow with... not really looking to be in a teacher/student-type relationship ;-)
Of course, maybe I misunderstood (blame it on the lackluster personality)...

easter eggs?
if a guy served me easter eggs and sausage (literally or metaphorically) i would be out of there in a flash.......definitely sounds a lil too fetishist to me.....lolol!
