Before you can become really committed to overcoming addictions like smoking, you must realize you have a problem. Take a look at your current health status and visit your doctor. I quit smoking because I was always coughing and running out of air anytime I tried walking or running, and I was always tired. I honestly didn't realize just how bad I'd gotten until I succeeded in quitting the first time. I felt so much better.
So why did I start again? Because I gave in to temptation in a high stress work environment that allowed smoking in the office. Now there's some legislation I would happily support. Office buildings should not allow smoking. I also have a school-aged daughter who is constantly on me about smoking. And she is not polite about it!! She bluntly tells me "you will DIE if you don't quit Mama. I don't want you to die." Talk about pulling at your heartstrings!
Tomorrow, I'll fill you in on how I've planned my recovery.
