Why I am leaving WritingUp

blogs | writing | writingup

I never bad-mouthed WritingUp, but my frustration regarding the site has forced me to leave and after hearing wonderful things about Bloggerparty.com – here I am!
My main frustration with WritingUp is that the site seems to go down a lot – and today is one of those days. How am I supposed to attract people to read my blog and earn money if the site doesn’t work?

As well, I am hoping this blogging website does not have a clique of bloggers on it that support one another and are not welcoming to new bloggers and their idea of what a blog should be. I found WritingUp did not support all of its contributors and there always seemed to be the “favorites leaving comments, etc. on the site.

I look forward to blogging on this – what appears to be – a very wonderful site with wonderful bloggers such as yourselves.

Welcome Summerside. I agree with you about the other place. This one has a few troubles too, but still, a better batting average than the other one.

Welcome and good luck Summerside

Your experiences with WritingUp match my own. I lasted about a week before I realized that right here at BP was the place to be. Sooner or later I'm sure Maverick will weigh in with his rather vitriolic opinions re: Jason's Place (WU).

One cannot read everything and remain employed. But I think most of us make an effort to read people's posts and comment meaningfully - and usually politely.

Enjoy!

Welcome aboard

Hi Summerside! I never signed up for WritingUp, but I lurked there for a while, as I did with Blogger Party before joining. This community seemed a lot friendlier. We have a few "problems" but for the most bloggers here are friendly.

Welcome to Bloggerparty!

Summerside, welcome to this great community. I've found this site to be much friendlier, calmer, and more professional.

I agree with everything you said about Writingup, I was wondering if it was just me feeling almost "blackballed" there - or at least like there is a huge clique and anyone not in that "inner circle" is ignored.

I like the set up of this site much better too, it much easier to navigate and find similar topics.

Anyway, hope you enjoy it here, and welcome!

If you like Bloggerparty, try Writingup - try it here now!

Welcome

The ambience here is great.

I like Writing Up.

Maybe I'm just oblivious to the clique thing. My first blog was on Writing Up and have spent more time publicizing that blog, so I get a lot more reads there. However, I am frustrated that friends who read my blog are emailing me asking me why they can't get to the website. I've now added my Blogger Party blog to my signature and I'm going to have to start promoting it instead because of the unreliability over there. That's a shame.

This website is also great. I'm very grateful that it has been reliable - I've never had problems accessing it. Thanks, Blogger Party!

I think...

My opinion regarding writingup and John Jonas is well documented elsewhere. But, thanks for the lob O'Kelly. I'm sure I coulda put that one in the upper deck, easy. But, personally, I do think this site is great, especially compared to the competition. Dig, reddit, and technorati submissions are all made about as easy as can be and that really helps get the reads up, if you're willing to risk the potential abuse. Also, this site gets exclusively real traffic. That certainly beats all traffic coming from click and traffic exchanges. I really like the contest being run as well. I realize people see varying degrees of adsense income (apparently many get none for a while) so this contest is great for helping anyone willing to help the site grow see some real money. Hopefully it'll be a huge success and we'll see it continue... maybe even grow? Anyway, this site is definitely about the user and while a younger site than ... that other one, the growth curve seems to be amazing.

Potentail abuse?

Hello Maverick,

You said "Dig, reddit, and technorati submissions are all made about as easy as can be and that really helps get the reads up, if you're willing to risk the potential abuse"

Can you pl take time to explain this-do we get abuse complaint for using these bookmarking sites?
Thanks.

Bye abuse...

I meant that sometimes people may not be very nice in response to your blogs on these sites.

writingUp frustration

I too have primarily posted on writinUp. Started about 3 months ago, and have enjoyed. At first I definitely felt like an 'outsider' yet pushed past that and just kept on writing--you know, those pennies per week are a real motivator!. Don't know if I'm in the clique, but I feel a part of that community.

The down time that site experiences is so constant at this point that it's rare if you can get on. Very frustrating. I posted about it at one point and was called a whiner. I tried to point out the difference between 'whining' and asserting oneself, and was recieved in luke warm waters.

I see writingUp as a big city, with it's ups and downs. I see Blogger Party as a town, with some definite advantages. Still getting to know the terrain in this blog town.

welcome summerside!

After reading a blog last night about writingup using click and traffic exchanges , I was a little taken back. I have pulled my adsense code from writingup. I found bloggerparty soon after starting at writingup and find this site to be much more friendly than than the other. I was lucky to even get a few reads. Just not the nice small town feeling you get here, I agree with you on that deorre.

I've Said This Before

I have nothing against writing up but I would advise people there to take off their adsense. That's it!
