Why Don't You Talk?

babies and pregnancy | family life | preschoolers

Today my talkative three-year-old son sat down next to his week-old baby sister, who was chilling out (a rare moment) in her bouncy seat. He was telling her that he loved her, and I'm not sure what else he was saying, but as I walked away I heard him say, "Hey, why don't you talk?"

It was so sweet, not like he was irritated or being sarcastic. He genuinely wanted to know what she had to say.

I hope things stay this way between the two of them. Yes, I know, I'm dreaming.

I kind of thing it's easier having one of each. I remember back to the way I acted with my sister, and I think that my kids get along better. It's like there isn't as much competition, because she can wear the prettiest dress and he can build the biggest building, and everything is cool between them.

So yeah, they will have their moments where they won't get along, but I think overall they will get along better.

I agree

Less head-to-head competition. That's a good thing.
