IS IT PLAGIARISM OR AM I WRONG?

mommy2skie has been plagiarizing articles all day (yesterday) and noone noticed it?
This is stuff from today 4/7:
This is one from yesterday 4/6 that is still up:
HAVE SOME FROGS...THERE GOOD FOR YOU
Lost Cowboy mentioned baba123, here's one of his:
5 growth tips for women in business
I know we were told we could "summarize", but is this "summarized" enough?
I've flagged all these posts...

Report it...
to Admin would probably be best. This is not something we want here on Blogger Party.

Plagarism
Both members I know about (from today) have been given warnings. Sometimes, people just don't know any better. If the problem persists, their username will be blocked. Flagging them is one option, but if it's a lot of posts, feel free to PM me/Email me and I will most likely take care of it.
It makes me so angry...
If they don't know better...they shouldn't be blogging in the first place. Anyway, thanks for taking care of this...
Do we have to go in and flag each one still? Or will they be deleted?

i thought i was just summerizing a story.
I thought that was ok.
Those articles were copied WORD FOR WORD!
That's not "summarizing"....
I have nothing against you personally...it's just that that is SO NOT OK... and like other members mentioned, that puts this WHOLE SITE at risk.

will i be kicked of. or can i get a warning?
You'll have to take that up with the Admin...

For future reference
1. Anytime you quote something, give the source.
2. Posting an article verbatim from any source, whether attributed or not, is a violation of copyright. Do not. You may post a link to the article if it's online, or give the citation if it's not.
3. Quoting portions of an article is OK, but only if you do something with it (such as use it as a basis for your own commentary). If you quote part of an article without such addition, see 2. above.
Follow these guidelines and you should be safe. Not to mention more interesting.
I DID SUMMERIZE
I DID SUMMERIZE, AND I PUT THE SITE THE INFORMATION CAME FROM, ITS NOT EXACT.
Plagiarism, again
By summarizing it means to write it IN YOUR OWN WORDS. Copy and pasting portions of the article with one or two sentences of your own is still NOT acceptable.
It's okay to take a quote here and there from an article and giving it credit, but you're taking it much further than that. It is still plagiarism.
Everyone is just trying to help you here. Please try to understand that you can't simply copy and paste even the first paragraph of an article, add a comment to it, and expect to make money off of it. Read it and then write about it in YOUR words.
I've sent you an email (your PMs are not turned on).
The PM bug is still with us, Admin ...
... mine keeps getting turned off from time to time. Especially if I edit my account and forget to check the Enable Personal Messages box - it seems to default to "off" anytime I enter the "edit account" function, unless I specifically tell it "on".
An act of PLAGIARISM
I don't know about this. I think in the cases listed it was without a doubt PLAGIARISM, but sometimes I use clips from different things. I use them to prove a point or as facts to develop my debates. I think I have to, to "start the war" per say. I do always include a direct link to where ever I got my info from and I always state my opinion in great detail at the end. Is this PLAGIARISM? Some may thik so, others disagree. I always thought of PLAGIARISM as being when somebody steals someone elses work and tries to pass it off as their own. Am I wrong? There was clear cut examples of that today in the works mentioned.

Plagiarism
You're right, plagiarism is passing something off as yours. Which the poster in discussion was doing without giving credit to begin with. She then began posting portions of articles with a comment at the end, which in itself is probably not a big deal. But if that's how every single blog of theirs is, with simply one sentence of their own at the very end, it's quite a bit different. I don't consider your blogs plagiarism at all, for example, since you discuss them in detail including your opinion.
Plagiarism (not you Realitycheck)
I don't think anyone is accusing you of plagiarism. This post is regarding someone copying and entire or most of news articles. I don't think anyone would suspect or accuse you of plagiarism. You quote sources to back up your argument, but you also site those sources, so you're good. In fact, Admin mentioned your blog in another post as an example of what plagiarism "is not." (I'd site the post, but I really have to go. Maybe somenone else can find it.) Keep up the good work! :)

Realitycheck...
I was only referring to the 2 users I listed. I think many of us quote from articles in our blogs from time to time... but there's a big difference between THAT and blatantly copying articles word for word and passing it off as your own.
I thought it was pretty obvious these were copied articles, complete w/headlines... and yet people had been commenting on these blog posts as if there was nothing wrong with it... which is why I chose to say something.

Try and Write your thoughts instead
Get off news items and TRY and write whatever you think. Usually that works better and it would be original. Try writing about nature, your son, your daughter, your pet, your cooking or something really personally related to you :)
So much safer to use your own words
but we also need to take care - some folk use a thesauras to change the words and still claim it as their own. I't still plagiarism. We need to watch that when we quote we use limited amounts of the other's work, and record where it was from and who it was written by. You can comment on other's material by using all your own words and putting a link to the article you are talking about. You still need to take care.
Some times people do it of ignorance or for greed.
Still there are few people who do not know about all this, however in anyway this is wrong. We should strictly avoid all this. Also there are present other people who for greed do this. They did not want to take the pain of writing and still want to earn big amount. If anybody accepts its fault then he should be given second chance. What he should delete all his post which are not his original writings.
Ignorance is Bliss...Greed is Greed...Wrong is Wrong
Enough said about the "why" or the "how it happened"...the offending parties should either endeavor to produce some original, informative, interesting, engaging, funny/humorous, whatever et al that is of their own making or consider a different avenue to chasing their dream of Adsense riches.
I have been accused of being a hard-ass regarding sub-par content blogs; guilty as charged! But I will continue to openly chastise any content-thieves/plagiarist because I have suffered the shock and disbelief of seeing my intellectual property tagged with some thief's name where mine once was.
Until it happens to you, and you realize that the hard work, the creation that was/is "yours" has/was taken away by a person too lazy to produce for himself/herself, then maybe you are apt to discount it as ignorance or confusion on a time-honored writer's etiquette or code of honor must abide by or attempt to in most instances.
I am a firm believer in the old adage: "fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me...and that other saying that goes: "Shit don't flow uphill, never has, never will."
lostcowboy
Lostcowboy, I TOTALLY agree with you...
I understand people wanting to be sympathetic... but I also feel that people need to be called out when they do things like that. I'm not here to hold anybody's hand... so if you don't understand the rules... then don't blog. And if you're going to plagiarize someone's work... you're going to get called out on it.
I think EVERYONE at Blogger Party has the responsibility to be on the lookout for things like this... if something LOOKS familiar or like like a newspaper article... do a quick Google Search... don't take everything for face value. All it takes is a little common sense...
