Who's Driving?

I've been driving for a year, I've had my license for about five months but I am still hesitant behind the wheel. I am known as being an overtly cautious driver. It's not a bad thing but not always good either. My caution sways with traffic, weather or stupid drivers. I cling to the seat when you don't have enough room to brake, even though you don't hit the car. I remain a backseat driver as you swerve and cut through traffic, barely miss a running a red light. Needless, to say you really don't want me as a passenger. I would just make you to nervous, I already do my fiancée.

How often are we like that in life? We either cling to the passenger seat or drive with reckless disregard. It's hard to determine the direction and speed our lives should travel. Life wasn't meant to be a smooth road trips. Instead you can count on potholes, dead ends, U-turns, stop signs, red lights and fill-ups. We can't just put the car in cruise control and except smooth sailing. We can choose to be proactive or inactive. We can blame others for our mistakes or accept responsibility. We can choose the route of reckless disregard and concern for others. We can choose to be cautious and courteous, allowing for a better driving experience.

Every choice, decision, action we exhibit ultimately determines our driving experience. Every choice also determines our final destination. This to me is what matters most. It's a question of who’s behind the wheel of your life. One of the most difficult decisions is learning to let go and let God. To hand him every difficulty, bad decision, moments of shame and regret. He wants to give your life the ultimate wax and shine, to empty every corner of your life of sin. He can only do that if you're willing to hand him the keys. Yes, it means taking the passenger seat but from what I've seen in my life God knows where he's going and he isn’t a bad driver. Just buckle up and hang on you’re in for the ride of a lifetime.
