Who Needs Microsoft Word? Now there's ajaxWrite

I just came across my new word processor, and it is, of course, Ajax. Considering I don't have Microsoft Word, this is lovely. A completely browser run application, it looks just like Microsoft Word or any other major word processor does.
You don't even need to sign up. Just go to www.ajaxwrite.com and click on the "ajaxWrite" text to the right, and voila.
You can save files in MS Word, RTF, Text, and even PDF format. You can open files on your computer. You can print them out, just like any other word processor. It's completely free, too.

Word processing software
Thanks for the link. ajaxWrite looks pretty good, but I'm already hooked on OpenOffice.org's office package, which of course includes Writer, its word processing software. I'll keep this in mind for future reference though.

OpenOffice
Thanks for the tip, gom jabbar. I actually had no idea Open Office existed, since I've simply been using whatever comes with my computer which is usually Wordpad. I'll be setting up a Linux box to call my own in a couple months, though, so I may use this.
re: Open Office
Open Office is great, at least version 2.0 is. Some of the earlier versions were a little quirky. The spell checker would stop working in the word processing software, and I'd have to patch it or reinstall. I haven't had that problem with the new one though. I wouldn't trust the Thesaurus either, but I never liked the one that came with Word either. Good luck with that Linux box.

Nancy J This is a great tip.

This is a great tip. However, when I went there, the page would not come up. Do they have the same trouble that Writingup has?
I will check back with it though. Great idea. Thanks.
