Who is us God refers to after creation?

In the Holy Bible in the book of Genesis, chapter 3 verse 26 it states: Then God said,” Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.” Chapter 4 verse 22 says: The the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us, to know good from evil; and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever.
Now I have to stop and pause here for a moment of contemplation. I have developed several questions about these two verses. The first in the series would be the obvious. Who is the “us” in which the author of Genesis relates? I mean if there was God and nothing. Then God created the something, which would be the material universe. That would mean to me that God is alone in existence. Then God creates man and says he is like us. So who is this us? Some scholars and laymen theorize the reference is to the trinity. I can’t see God talking to himself after creation though. Later on in the bible it’s told that there was a war in heaven and 1/3 of the angels are expelled from therein, to a lower world or dimension. If this be the case then I can assume the us refers to the remaining 2/3’s left in heaven. Now anytime I read the bible I keep in mind there are two worlds, the physical and the spiritual. So, from this viewpoint, I have concluded that the us referenced in Genesis must and can only be the remaining 2/3’s in heaven. The angels, cherubs and Jesus must have been available during physical creation. In the New Testament Jesus relates that he was in fact present. The only other thing that still puzzles me about Genesis is the fact that this was a story of creation passed down for thousands of years by word of mouth until finally committed to the written word. Now who was there to hear what God said and could quote him? Adam? Was it passed on by Adam? Who was it that later can claim to be able to quote God word for word? I think Genesis is credited to Moses. Then that would mean unless Moses was Adam he can’t accurately quote God, unless it was written first by Adam?
