Who Are You Really Hurting?

This story was sent me my someone recently and gave me something to think about. Maybe you will enjoy it too.

A young woman, Sally, related an experience that she had while in a seminary class that was taught by a Dr. Smith. Sally said that Dr. Smith was well known for his elaborate object lessons.

One day, when Sally walked into the seminary, she knew that they were going to have a fun day because on the wall was a big target, and on a nearby table were several darts.

When class started, Dr. Smith told his students to draw a picture of someone that they disliked, hated, or who made them angry. He was going to allow them to throw darts at the person's picture.

Sally,s friend drew a picture of someone who had stolen her boyfriend form her. Another person drew a picture of his little brother. Sally drew a picture of a former friend, putting a great deal of detail into her drawing, even drawing some pimples on the face. Sally was very pleased with the end result.

Then, the class lined up and began throwing darts at the pictures. Some of them threw their darts with such force that their targets were ripping apart.

Sally was really looking forward to her turn to throw darts at her picture, but was filled with disappointment when Dr. Smith call a halt to the demonstration because of time limits, and he asked the students to return to their seats.

Sally sat thinking about how angry she was because she didn't get a chance to throw darts at her target. But then Dr. Smith began removing the target from the wall.

Underneath the target was a picture of Jesus. A hush fell over the room as each student viewed the mangled picture of Jesus. Holes and jagged marks covered His face, and His eyes were pierced. Dr. Smith had only a few words left for his class.

"In as much as ye have done it unto the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto Me." Matthew 25:40

Have a great day.

A Good Story

Nancy!

It's a wonderful story. But very dramatic to evoke sympathy for Jesus. They do these types of emotional things to generate good response from the crowd. If by hurting others we really hurt God then what would we do with criminals? They hurt when you put them behind bars.

How would you stop a bully who is attacking your kid brother, by kneeling and praying to the Jesus in him? The story is good in theory.

What would you do to Osma Bin Laden and his tribe? Not hurt him but tell him the glories of the Lord, the virtues of peace and the spirirt of brotherhood, while he goes and bombs another tower and beheads a few more Americans.
