Where Are the Water Purifiers?

We’re trying to be more environmentally conscious lately. It’s not because of the stupid “green” ads that are constantly running on the TV. As a matter of fact, this bombardment of “be more green” actually makes me want to be less green. This feeling only gets stronger when I hear people say stupid stuff like:

“Don’t get divorced…it’s bad for the environment!”

“Having kids is bad for the environment.”

“Look at all this stuff you use during your lifetime. You’re bad for the environment.”

I’m not going to feel guilty for living!

But anyway, we wanted to buy a water purifier last week. I felt bad because I was drinking like eight bottled waters a day and it was bad for our checkbook and the environment. We walked all around the store looking for a water purifier. I thought it would be with the appliances, but it wasn’t.

After about 45 minutes, we walked over to the aisle full of air purifiers. Finally! There they were – a plethora of water purifiers. We get a gleam in our eyes and choose a moderately-priced model. The second we get home, I try to install it.

It doesn’t fit. Apparently, our apartment isn’t equipped with “standard faucets” because this is supposed to fit all standard faucets. And after searching through three hardware stores, including the big blue one and the huge orange one, I can’t find an adapter that fits my faucet either.

So it’s back to bottled water for me..for now anyways.
