When Will the Troops Come Home?

Conditions in Iraq keep going from bad to worse. As the number of American casualties grow, one can only wonder when Bush will admit he was wrong and allow Congress to bring our troops home.

The responsibility of the war seems to fall on the same people over and over. Their deployments are being lengthened because there are not enough new troops to fill in the numbers.

Bush has stubbornly held out, telling Americans we must "sacrifice" and yet, he makes no personal sacrifices himself. When it was time for him to serve in the Vietnam War, he thumbed his nose at his duty and now he thumbs his nose at Congress.

I keep waiting for him to declare himself king. He has all but done that as he ignores Congress and he seems to forget he is an elected official, elected by the American people to represent their wishes. It was made pretty clear last November how the American people felt about Iraq.

I have been disappointed in the Democratic Congress and in the Republicans who follow Bush like sheep. Until Congress actually listens to the American people, their constituents and do the right thing, then and only then will we continue to feel as Americans we have a real voice in our political system.

The very thing that has made this country great, has made us unique and has been the example Bush wants for the Middle East, is the one thing he has ignored.
