When Nobody Believes You're in Pain
I have not written a personal post in a very long time, so I thought I would do just that tonight. In some of my first posts I wrote about having chronic pain in my shoulder that the doctors were unable to diagnose. That's still the case. I'm still hurting and I have given up on ever finding out why. For the most part, the pain comes and goes. I hate the days when the pain just won't let up. I can't even describe the pain. When I'm hurting really bad I feel that slamming my fingers in a door would be a more pleasant experience. There's one thing that hurts more than the pain though...when nobody believes you're in pain. Your family, friends and the doctors start acting like you're crazy...like you're just seeking attention. It is a feeling that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. I've learned to hide the pain whenever possible. When people ask me how I'm feeling...I lie. It's just easier that way. Hopefully some day I'll find out why I'm in pain...until then I'll only speak of it here, because I know someone here will understand.

Painful shoulder
Hi Chistina
I do feel for you I had a very painful shoulder about 5 years ago. I was told I had a frozen sloulder which is something a lot of people tend to get from just a silly arkward movement. I had to do certain excersises and it took nearly two years to get better. I am sure one of the best things I ever done to help my condition was to go swimming it was quite painful trying to do the breast stroke but things seemed to get better once I started swimming for a few weeks. Now I am glad to say my frozen shoulder is completley better. I am not saying your pain is a frozen shoulder it is probably something quite different but maybe you may find swimming might help you too.
Kind regards Barbara. bubsy70
We are having a similar problem
I have fibromyalgia and I think people don't really believe it is a "real" problem. I, like you, try to just go on as normal, do as much as I can and when asked how I am, I just say fine.
Now, my 16 yr old daughter is having problems. I don't know if it's Fibro or not but we went to the Dr and they did some bloodwork. Everything came back normal so the Dr. acts like it's just inactivity and not eating right. My daughter actually eats a pretty decent diet for a teen. She could be more active but this is something new. Why the problems now when she hasn't changed anything? It does get very frustrating. I take her to the Chiropractor and it helps for a while but then it seems to come back very quickly.
