When it's your turn, it won't be funny
My wife and I were handed menus at a restaurant chain this weekend. After reading the regular menu, I glanced at the back page and saw a seniors section. The pricing was 20% lower and began to focus on the offerings. What I figured out was that the pricing may have been 20% lower, but the ounces were 25% lower and at least one side dish was missing. So this chain figured older people either couldn't read, couldn't analize, or couldn't see well enough to avoid the senior "specials." What a class act, taking advantage of older people, a real "ALL AMERICAN" company with the motto "All the Market can Bear!"
Age discrimination in this country is widespread and wrong on every level you can think of. As a young man starting out I was asked about my experience and had "only experience need apply", but now that I have 30 years of experience and excellent performance stories to share in interviews, all I get now is we are persuing other candidates at this time. What they don't mention is the age of those other candidates. The need for intelligent, experienced workers seems to come second to the hiring manager's insecurities about hiring a person thier parent's age. And judging from the no talent fakers I've seen interviewing, the corporations of America are in real trouble.
So, you managers that think you're a gift from heaven, wait till you're 55 and dumped onto the street with seven years to go to get early social security benefits and only three years of assets to get there with. Wait till you see suicide as the only way to provide for your life's mate that has stood beside you for all those years. Let's see if you still have that smirk plastered all over your face.

Damn, Lloyd...
You sound pretty angry. I am sensitive to the issue of which you speak, yet I can't help but wonder if your 'vigilant' position may be a factor in the hiring process.

hi
:>]just saw reply button. Sorry if I seemed I was putting a hex on your family, I'm not really. I wouldn't want any more people to suffer age discrimination than are currently. Have a nice life.
And luck to you Sir...
