When do people sleep here?

When do people sleep here?

That is the question you most often hear when you are entertaining foreign guests here.
The nights are white, the days are long and everything is growing so that you can hear it.
There is no time to sleep!

In winter we are blue, because the days are short and gloomy. There is a saying about december days: the days are shorter than a cat's sneeze. You don't want to wake up on days like that at all.

I have heard or read somewhere that the plants only grow at night. That seems a little strange, because in May, when you go out in the morning, you can here a constant rasping noise, as if something is lifting the dry leaves and last summer's dry grass.
You can find fine green stalks and flower buds in the afternoon where there was nothing in the morning!

This is the northern spring, no time to sleep, nobody wants to travel away. Only a big hurry: summer is around the corner, and before you notice, it is fading away.
