It's become kind of fashionable in politics to criticize George Bush for anything he does or doesn't. But put the recent events and the past ones together and you can see that the guy was not wrong at all, at least on war against terrorism.
Yes it's regarding the Danish cartoons, 9/11, War in Iraq and Osama Bin Laden.
The Danish cartoon issue symbolizes the extremist muslim thinking. The same thinking that brought the towers down on 9/11. The same thinking that made Iraq invade Kuwait. The same thinking that sheltered Osama in Laden. There shoul not be absolutely any sympathy for these terrorists who want to feed on other's fears. Their goal is one - create terror.
We know it now. Bush knew it long back. Thank God he didn't sit with hands tied after the 9/11. He declared war on Osama, Afghanistan and subsequesntly Iraq. Attack is the best defence. He attacked those places where these type of activities are being encouraged.
Whether the US troops have overstayed in Iraq and committed any excesses are different issues. But invading Iraq and Afghanistan to flush out the ***t pieces was not a wrong move. To wipe the breeding grounds of terrorism and disinfect it is not wrong.
What did you expect? Sit back and cry foul while the terrorists hid in friendly countries like Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan with royal treatment and plan the next offensive. Many such attacks could have taken place if America didn't go on the offensive. Any defence strategist worth his salt would agree with that.
Thanks to the prompt action we haven't wutnessed any major terrorist attacks inside the US. While excesses are ineveitable and cannot be condoned, the offensive was essential to create fear in the minds of the terrorists.
They now have the message, 'you cannot hit and get away'. We will get you and your accomplishes.
Job well done George Bush! And those who think it's fashionable to criticise Bush, do so merrily but leave the issue of war against terrorism. On this issue he has scored well.
