Whatever You Think Of Me,...

Catfish's picture

Tuesday night my wife went to Turning Stone Casino to see Jack Canfield, the creator of the Chicken Soup books, and someone who's fairly prominently used in both the book and the movie The Secret.

She said he was very inspirational and had a lot of good things to say in almost two hours, but she took two things away, one I've heard before, one that's totally new.

The one she says is the strongest for her is this statement:

[=#000066"]Whatever you think of me is not my business[/]
.

She locked onto that one because she has a co-worker who most people there feel is a pain, but they work in close proximity to each other. My wife has adopted this mindset that nothing she says or does has anything to do with her, so this saying hit close to home.

The one she shared with me that I'm going to adopt is this one:

[=#000066"]I accept money easily and frequently into my life[/]
.

That one I need, since I work for myself, because it reminds me that I can receive cash from so many different places, and all I have to do is remind myself to be open to any possibilities.

Jack Canfield; pretty good guy.

Not bad, catfish

In general, I don't read self-help books or anything like that. But, the first bit is something I adopted a few years ago. After so many years out on my own, it suddenly occured to me how much energy we all waste when worrying about the idiots around us. It's been pretty damn nice to have that distance now. Sure, that idiot co-worker may be annoying, but your wife is going to have a much better and easier time now that she's removed herself from the drama. And, it really is that easy to do!

Good luck on the money thing! I will try to remind myself of that! LOL

Obviously, Spooky,...

the main thing is to keep trying to maintain a big chunk of positivity in one's personal life, even as some of the ugliness of the outside world seems to be encroaching upon us.

Reviews of Everything, reviews and opinions of, well, almost anything!

Yep

That's exactly the thing. I figure that I've got enough of my own drama and craziness - why let the outside world mess with me? ;-)
