What Would You Do?

CNN is doing a survey right now entitled If I Didn't Have To Work, I'd,.... Basically, they want to know what people would do if they knew they'd be set for life as far as money is concerned.
I think it's an interesting poll because it's something I think about on a daily basis. I want to be rich; there's no question about that. I want no worries in my life forever, and that's the way to at least get a good start on it. I've often talked about the few things I'd like, but I've never really gotten into what I'd do outside of that.
For one, I'd hire a masseuse and, hopefully, learn to relax. I don't sleep well (see, it's almost 2AM as I write this), and I really have no concept of how to relax because I'm always on the computer, either working or doing something. For instance, I can write here now because I just finished working on three projects. Tomorrow, it will all start again; ugh.
Second, though right now I really don't have anywhere I absolutely have to travel to see (I've been almost everywhere already, other than New Orleans, and there's no reason to go there right now), I think I'd set up a trip to go with my wife to either England or Australia. I know people in both places that have asked us to visit, and my wife has never left the country, other than Canada. For me to go, I'd want at least 3 weeks free; with this dream, I'd have that.
Third,... I really don't know. If this was 11 years ago I'd say I'd want to visit chocolate factories around the world and sample everything, but this stupid diabetes has ruined that. I'd say I would play poker nonstop, but I think that would probably bring the dream crashing down if I wasn't winning all the time, so let's toss that out. Hmmmm,... I don't have anything else.
Anyway, why not either say what you'd do here, or take CNN's survey; maybe they're giving away trips!

Giving Back
This is an interesting survey. Everyone I know has dreamed about being rich. To have money to free yourself from debt and buy all the “stuff” you have ever dreamed about. But you can only have so many possessions. At some point you have to look inward and determine how you want to be viewed by society.
If I didn’t have to work, I would look into what makes me truly happy, and find a way to give back to the community in that manner. Everyone needs a reason to get up in the morning. You need goals and activities. For most of us, work provides that needed incentive to get out of bed in the morning.
My mother and father retired and immediately began giving back to the community by becoming volunteers in their areas of interest, politics. They became involved in voters registration, joined citizen’s awareness groups, and became board members for local government committees.
I would use them as role models and find activities involving my passions, adult literacy and education. I would find ways to participate in the advancement of these and other related areas.
My father passed away several years ago, buy my mother in 86 and still very active in the community. People are surprised to hear her age because she looks and acts like someone much younger. She has always maintained that this is due to her active lifestyle and the fact that she has never stopped learning and giving back to the community.
In answer to the survey, I don’t have far to look to know exactly what I would do with my life. I have a perfect role model right in front of me.
We'll be here!
Funny, I've lived here in New Orleans for almost a year now, and still haven't seen everything worth seeing.
If you change your mind, we'd love to have you visit some day!
From what I've seen on TV, Neonola,...
New Orleans is recovering, but isn't quite back to where it was before the floods. This is one of those things where the media may be doing your area an injustice. But we'll see.
Reviews of Everything, reviews and opinions of, well, almost anything!
Wow--this is a good thing for everyone to think about
just exactly what would you do? Well, obviously if I didn't have to work, I would do what susang said and that is to give back.
I would volunteer in shelters, and places where children are, such as places like Hope House (a battered womens shelter). If I never had to worry about money, and had some to play with, I would want to ensure that those less fortunate could benefit some how from what ever I could do for them, be it house them, feed them, educate them. It is up to all of us to give back, unfortunately it usually requires money, so I would say those with it should do something, anything to help others in need.
Now I would treat myself and family and friends to a few things, but I wouldn't get all crazy. I would travel to a few places that I will not otherwise be able to see. I would love to go to Canada, Australia, Egypt, and Italy. I could be satisfied with just those places.
But for the most part I would spend it giving back, especially where children are involved.
Well if I had all the money in the world
Sassys
I would first have one big ass cyber party on a big ass yacht (The SassyPuss) then I would travel. I too have traveled my whole life and because I have I have all the places to go back to and say "Hey meet my friends and lets ride the Sassypuss...yay!" Then I would try somehow to make a difference...even if it's one kid at a time, I would raise a bunch of rebels and *Sigh*! Hey I am actually gratefull for the very little I do have. Tis all in how one looks at it. I have a roof over my head, a rented one, and I have food in my belly, and two great kids who I like to believe love me, so yeah I did it Catfish...be grateful nonetheless:)
