What’s the “Word of the day?

Comments. Yes, comments. There are lots of people out there who know what I’m talking about, while others are wondering what the heck is so important about a comment. Well, in a Word document, the reviewing toolbar allows a person to insert comments into the document.

So what, one may ask. Well, let’s say you are a student who has a final paper due for class. You type it out in Word and let the spell- and grammar-checker do their thing. But, you know that it is always good to have another set of eyes look at your work, so you ask a friend (hopefully one who has good grammar skills) to check your paper for you. They say, “Sure, why not, and you email your soon-to-be A paper to your friend.

When you email your paper, you ask your friend to use the review toolbar to input comments on your paper. When you receive your paper back, you can see the areas that you need to work on and also the “great point encouraging notes throughout. The comments are neat and orderly and help you to know just where to move that sentence to make that paragraph just right.

This is just one reason for using the comments in Word. You can use the review toolbar for whatever suits your fancy. In fact, tell me what you use the comments for. I’d love some feedback.
