What makes you cry?

pchan33's picture

When I was a substitute teacher, I required the classes to journal each day. One of the prompts I borrowed from the teacher I was subbing for is : what makes you cry.

I cried last night in the car. Not just tears, but full-out sobbing with dry heaves. I was balling because my parents don't support me in my endeavors. I am not talking about finances. I am not trying to mooch off of them.

I have all these successes that I have to hide, because they would not understand. Especially the modeling and acting and writing. I was brought up to keep everything bottled up, tightly closed and hidden. Emotions expire, they get rancid, they never go away.

I must be very hard

I do cry - but seldom. I cry at the death of someone close, even a family pet. I cry at bad health news. I do'nt like crying - it makes the mascara run.

crying

I dont particularly enjoy crying either, but it does cleanse. I rarely wear mascara.

I support you!

Don't hide your successes and accomplishments! Be proud of who you are and what you do.

If you feel uncomfortable sharing them with your parents, share them with your friends. Share them here!

It is SO important to have a support group. And it does NOT have to be your parents or even your family. They can't and are not meant to be everything to you.

And how great that you are a writer - your emotions don't have to get rancid. Use them, pour them out into your writing. Your writing will improve AND you will feel better. :)

friends

Without my friends, I would have no support. sometimes I feel like my parents are a bit jealous of me.

not to say..

Oops, I just reread my comment and realized you might take that wrong. I didn't mean it as if your writing NEEDS to improve, because I think you are very good. I was saying that the more emotions that come through in writing, the better it tends to be.

I know how you feel. When I

I know how you feel. When I was younger I was actively going on go sees and interviews. My parents wanted me to get a 9-5 or get married. I already was working two jobs, 1 full time, 1 part time and going fulltime to college. in between I tried to squeeze in the interivews, photo shoots, etc. I spent most of my time trying to make everyone happy-everyone except myself.

To make a long story short, I married Mr. Wrong and my life took the worst turn possible. I am a survivor. I press forward and raise the kids by myself. Money is always tight, but I coose to take care of business because I made choices nad I will deal with them!

Cry. But don't let anyone stop your creativity. Now after I wasted so much time setting up my ex's business (so he could leave me broke) I have decided to take life into my own hands. I will use every gift that I have to lift myself out of this hole of debt and be successful. Ever watch Waitng to Exhale? I lived it...
