It's happened to probably everyone that watches any television. You're busy ignoring the commercial when a song being used to promote some product catches your ear. Sometimes it will be something you know like Led Zeppelin's "Rock And Roll" or Psychedelic Furs' "Pretty In Pink." However, with radio playlists so unadventurous and MTV having forgotten for what the M once stood, a lot of lesser-known artists are finding that licensing their songs for commercial use a boon for exposure and a bit of money. So what do you do when you find the song from the Suzuki Grand Vitarra ad lodged in your head (you know the one - guy kisses girl, cliff jumps...) and you CAN'T identify it to either purchase or know whom to blame? There are several good resources.
One is Adtunes which has a fairly easy-to-use format. Another good option is Song Title.
And, for folks in the UK, there's always Song Of The Salesman.
In case, you're wondering, the song to which I refer from the Suzuki ad is called "Alive & Amplified" by The Mooney Suzuki.
