What if god was one of us?
I just listened to this song and stared to think about it again. What if god was one of us? Everyday we are angry with people, or treat complete strangers like crap for no reason. The guy in the car next to you, the stinky person on the bus. What if that person was god, and you were treating him/her like that? I had never really sat down and thought about it. We should treat everyone a little better, like they're important. In some respect, everyone is. Maybe this song really is pretty smart. I encourage all you bloggers out there...treat everyone like they were in change of your ultimate fate. the world will be better for it.

Check your headline...
I don't like embarassing people, but this is really irritating. Please check your headline. Did you mean "What if god was one of us"? Making a typo in the headline is like making a mistake on the cover of a book or magazine, it's just glares right at you.
Bad Headline aside
I'll put the bad headline aside and comment anyway. The point you are making is the same that Christ was making when he said that when we take care of the hungry or the naked we are, in fact, taking care of him.
Same point is echoed in religions around the world, we never hear it though.
A part of G-d
In a way we are G-d as we are made it ITs image, whatever that means, it seems to imply that we have a spark of the divine in every human being. Therefore, we do have the responsibility to be kind to each other. I always kinda liked the song for its hokeyness, if that's a word. If it isn't a word, then I guess I made one up.
Daniel
P.S. I wouldn't want to be G-d however, as that would be intolerable,
