I was at a major bookshop yesterday. Apart from the fact that the bookshop is situated in a large shopping complex, it was also Mother's Day. I was amazed at the sight of the crowded bookshop as it was quite unusual.
The customers were busy browsing through thousands of books on display. Although many copies were securedly wrapped to protect the covers, there were several copies for public reference.
However, I noticed that most prefer the magazines. The section was overcrowded that I failed to reach the newest copy of my favourite magazine.
The scene led me into thinking of what I should be writing today: Are we reading what we should?
Try answering these questions:
1. What have you been reading lately?
2. How many pages of a book/magazine do you really read and not scan through?
3. Do you understand anything that you read?
4. What were the lesson from your reading that you think you may wany to apply in your daily life?
It would be quite a pity if you just browse through, or stare at the letters without even trying to understand the wisdom between the leaves.
Some people like to buy books and have them display on the glass shelves of their huge bungalow, without reading them. What a waste...... I mean the wisdom, not the money!
Some people, however, prefer to read materials that have little help to them but of course, provide them with lots of entertainment.
So, if today you think of buying an entertainment mag, remember, all you get is gossips which is not going to help you to grow, spiritually. Your quest for knowledge lies between the pages of 'books' written by people who know!
