What Fools We Americans Are
What fools we Americans are. We claim to have representation at the highest councils of our government. Yet our congresspersons and senators do and vote for what is best for themselves. They represent only their own economic interest. What fools we Americans are.
Elections are coming soon. Again we are asked to vote for the person best suited to represent our views. Yet we all know that the person we elect, regardless of party affiliation, will not represent our views but only the view that best suits their own economic interest. What fools we Americans are.
We claim to have high morals. Yet we support a president and a party that lied to the whole world. A president that took us to war, killing hundreds of innocent men, women and children. A president that ordered the torture of hundreds in the name of freedom. What fools we Americans are.
We pretend to lecture other countries for the error of their ways. We chastise third world countries for allowing corruption within their government yet our representatives cater to the highest bidder. Our representatives sell their loyalty not to us but to those that enrich their bank accounts. What fools we Americans are.
We went to war to liberate a people from a dictator that killed, tortured and imprisoned innocent people. We occupied that country and then did the same thing, all in the name of freedom. We deposed a dictator and helped hang him for war crimes. Then we committed the same exact war crimes, in the name of freedom. What fools we Americans are.
Our representatives that claim to represent us refuse to accept responsibility for the war crimes of this nation. Our elected representatives refuse to indict those that flushed the honor and good will of our nation down the toilet. Who will reach down into the sewer and bring back our standing among the nations of this earth? What fools we Americans are.
Our representatives invest millions into getting elected to represent us. Rank and file members of congress only get paid $169,300.00 per year. Where is the logic in investing millions into getting a job that only pays, in total, for House of Representatives 338,600.00 or for the Senate 1,015,800.00? That translates into a net loss of several millions. Which of us would pay more than a job pays just to get hired? What fools we Americans are.
On November 19, 1863, President Lincoln wrote “... and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”. Today those famous words ring hollow and untrue. The truth is that such a government no longer exists. Sadly, it is a government of the elite, by the rich corporate powers, for the benefit of the elite few. What fools we Americans are.

We have fast become
We have fast become a country of elitists. George Bush did away with the "death tax" which means the wealthiest families can remain elite. We are a country of serfs and lords....nothing more......
We need to vote the entire da-n congress out of office and being in a whole new bunch.....then, if they don't vote the way the American public wants them to, then we vote them out too. People in congress get wealthy from under the table payouts, and kickbacks....that's why they spend millions to get paid thousands.....we are a nation of stupid people, but we do have the right to vote....just always vote for the new guy instead of the old one.....hint hint hint.......

I am beginning to always agree with you...knock it off:) It may be a corrupt government and it's sad that the Bush regime has led us to this...but one thing I can say that is also true...Americans themselves only get hoodwinked for so long, then we become UNITED and believe me when I say that things will change. We can put a man on the moon we can also fix our economy etc. But for the time being you are correct.
