What Does the Murder of Unborn Children Have to do with Health and Safety? Isn't it About Convenience?

Yesterday, South Dakota passed a bill that bans abortion. I am personally glad to see it. I believe that abortion is murder. I wrote a blog about abortion yesterday and did not receive the answers that I was searching for. I still do not understand how certain women can parade around supporting this barbaric practice in the name of "health and safety". I understand that there are times when an abortion may be necessary - rape, incest, health of the mother. But let's honestly look at it and try to figure out how many of those cases actually come up. Isn't abortion really just another form of birth control? Oops, the girl was out sleeping around again and she got knocked up. Easy solution - abortion clinic. Abortion is rarely about health or safety. It is about convenience.

Sure seems convenient, eh?

Sure. Ask any woman who had a fetus vacuumed out of her how "convenient" it was. It's surgery man, not picking up milk at the corner store.

But it protected her health

But it protected her health and safety. At least, that is what they want us to believe.

It sounds like you might

It sounds like you might have thought I was pro-life. I'm not. I'm pointing out that nobody chooses an abortion out of convenience. It's an invasive procedure and is usually accompanied by a lot of hard decision making and soul searching. I wish anti-choice people could develop some empathy, even if you can't morally agree with another viewpoint.

Abortions do promote health

Abortions do promote health and keep women safe. You might want to take a look at statistics of pregnant women and their mortality rate.

Existential Intellection From the Bible Belt

Does it "feel" right?

Nancy J

I agree Johnny. Killing is the taking of life. One can quibble about the difference between "killing" and "murder", but the historical definition would be that murder is killing that is "not justified"...ie: druing war, self-defense, accidental, etc.

So, now it comes down to, as you say, is abortion for "convenience" or for a "justified" reason....ie: rape, incest, health of the mother, etc.

The problem is that we are living in this secular, humanistic society where "if it feels good, do it" is the word of the day...and basically EVERYTHING is "justified" if thats what one wants to do.

Now, this is a very historical, logical, rational and TRUE explanation of what is going on....but the "high-minded liberals" are not going to like that because if they can't obfuscate the issues with glorified rhetoric, they haven't got a leg to stand on.

I can't decided if anti-choicers are evil or just stupid

That's almost idiotic. Abortion doesn't feel good. It's a difficult choice. It is not convenient. It is most decidedly inconvienient to have surgery. I am sick and tired of ignorant, right wing fascists trying to erase the separation of church and state! I am thankful that we live in a secular, humanist society. When religion and politics mix, you get things like sharia law, and all manner of violation of human rights.

In fact, I do have a leg to stand on. I was raised by a Baptist Minister. I have a BA in Philosophy. I studied all the major world religions from an acedemic viewpoint, not one clouded by irrational presuppositions such as, "The word of God is true in it's literal form and any contradiction we see in it is either a function of human error or divine mystery."

By the way, do you eat meat?

your answers

You were answered here. And here.

The last time I will dignify this with a response.

I read the posts that you

I read the posts that you listed. I am glad that modern medicine has increased the birth rate. That has little do with the abortion question.

Meanwhile, here on Earth...

...there are hundreds of thousands of children dying EVERY minute of EVERY day from diseases, maladies, and situations that could easily be prevented, eradicated, or alleviated. I do wish the pro-life constituency - so concerned with UNBORN children - would marshall a bit of their passion toward some of these issues.

So the answer to children

So the answer to children dying is to kill them before they have a chance to die? Why don't we do that with senior citizens as well. We should kill the retards also so they don't have to suffer. But wait, we should have killed them before they were born. What was I thinking?

Not at all what I wrote

Nowhere in my reply did I am not advocate killing children, unborn or born, for any reason. What I am suggesting is that it would be refreshing if pro-lifers would channel some of that energy into something constructive and tangible.

Hide and go touch yourself~

"Isn't abortion really just another form of birth control? Oops, the girl was out sleeping around again and she got knocked up."~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Sure, if you want to call it that. I also call it, keep your peener in your pants and that right there solves 'half' of the problem.

Christians should all have vascectomies!

Man oh man, Tammy, sometimes these ignorant fuckers just make me wanna forget about my non-violent lifestyle. Especially the Catholics, who both forbid birth control AND abortion.....

The only reason that

The only reason that abortion is such an issue is because many people do not want to take responsibility for their actions. Sex outside of marriage is wrong. Abortion is a way to clean up the problem. That way people can continue to have sex without having to worry about the responsibility of marriage or children. God forbid that anyone should practice abstinence.

Two words

Birth control.

How did people have sex before marriage licenses?

This comes from a man who obviously has never had an abortion (being a man and all) and who likely has never been with a partner who has. I, on the other hand, have been with someone when they went through and abortion, and a avoidance of responsibility is not the first thing I would have thought of. Whether or not you agree with it, it is traumatic.

Also, sex outside of marriage is wrong? What makes a marriage then? The license? What happened before paper and before a government to issue it. Oh wait, I know the rhetoric: Marriage is a sacred pact between two adults in the eyes of God. So how do people in India ge married, since they don't believe in the "One True God"...... Who married Adam and Eve, they didn't have paper for the license, anyone to witness it, or a priest/minister/justice of the peace to perform the act. Couldn't it be okay for two responsible people to enjoy THEIR OWN bodies, and each others, without having to go through some rigamarole that really has no more intrinsic meaning than a simple understanding between them?

I will anticipate your answer so you don't have to write it for me: NO.

[If Christians didn't have so much power in the States right now, they'd make me laugh.]

Taking care of the living is good.

Nancy J

So, because I (and my family) support, work for and contribute to organizations that feed and clothe hungry and naked people, and provide medicine and medical care to those who need it, maintain hospitals and educational institutions for people who had none before and provide disaster relief and numerous other programs for people both at home and all around the world.....now am I allowed to have a pro-life opinion about abortion? What has one thing to do with another? Murder is wrong, has always been wrong, and will always be wrong.....no matter what government decides to do about its laws. And, as long as I have a vote, I will vote against abortion, except in the above-mentioned circumstances.

Don't take hostages

You really do take everything literally, don't you?

Hey Keyz~

Two words, baby: Stun guns

heh~

Not permanent enough, Tammy

Yeah but they wake up after a while.

IamTammy©'s picture

Let's do a 'Condom on the other foot' Scenerio~

Let's play pretend for a second~

Let's completely reverse the whole abortion role~

Now, let's say, a man and a woman have sex in a Wendy's parking lot. The woman isn't the one to get pregnant. The MAN does.

Women don't carry the babies. Men do.

You, are a lucky man.

All the woman does, is let him stick his joystick into the console, and bam. He's going to have a baby. Game on~

If the man goes full term, his penis will be 4 times the size of a large coffee can.

Now, she's left town, you have no money, no job, no friends, and you canNOT start wearing elastic-waist pants, or you are totally busted. Your electric is going to be turned off, and if your family gets wind that you, Mr. White Boy, is having a black woman's baby, you are going to be the family reunion whore every summer for the rest of your life. Congratulations~

What do you do? You can't get an abortion. It's against the law, so I guess you're stuck being Coffee Can Man. You can't go to your parents. You'll be disowned. Are you mentally ready to have a baby? And even if you were raped, tough cookies. You, are having this baby. That baby will make a kidney stone feel like happy-fun-day at Chucky Cheese.

IF you had the choice, would you have it..........or not?

Pro-Choice Street Performing!

Well that doesn't seem very convenient now, does it.... hahaha. I wish we could actually make this happen sometimes. I am so tired of anti-choice rhetoric that I actually get in the face of those blown-up-fetus-picture-touting assholes who picket near my home. I've yet to see one person actually try to do anything than yell over my questions, too. So in the end, I wrote this hip-hop tune (yes, trained musicians can rhyme too) and I just go right into the middle of their circle and perform it on a portable speaker..... It gets a great but varying response, from pro-choicers and anti-choicers alike!

I think that it is so funny

I think that it is so funny how people who are opposed to abortion are anti-choice. It's either support something we do not believe in or we are ignorant morons opposed to the right to choose. How about choosing to stop screwing around? Why is that choice never mentioned? Is it because Planned Parenthood wouldn't make all their money that way?

I just like pissing you offJohnny.

I wrote anti-choice, partly because that's what "pro-lifers" are, but mostly because I knew it would push a button with all you ho-dunk, backwoods, inbred, right-wing, pig fuckers. (I bet that bugs you too.)

Oh. Sorry all of you who

Oh. Sorry all of you who came here for intelligent discussion. So did I. If you don't believe me, read my blog. I actually have a lot of good stuff to say about people, and I believe in the intrinsic good of humanity. I love a healthy discussion. But, you know what? Try as I might to engage the Christian right in intelligent discussion, they will have none of it. They are spouting the same bullcrap that I heard when I was in high school, then later, in University, then later, on the job. The arguements never change, the people just do. And there is no substance to the arguments. They fall back on rhetoric, they claim divine mystery, they say "The bible said so," but their reasoning isn't well thought out; often, it's not thought out at all. Depressing, frustrating, makes you wanna..... oh Jesus, if I keep going I'm gonna piss off them Bible thumpers again.

Keyz~

work with me, work with me. lol

Please, don't hold back. Say what you really feel. haha~

What I really feel is not fit to Print

I bet if I said what I really feel, Bloggerparty would take notice! My mom taught me not to say those things.....

Going to shoot your opponents?

Nancy J

Stun guns? See where this kind of thinking leads you? Conveniently get rid of unborn children.....don't like what it might do to your life. Conveniently shoot (or stun) people who disagree with you....you don't like what they say....for whatever reason....maybe because their words make you think, make you feel a little uncomfortable with some of your decisions. But wait, those decision are just so darn convenient.

I want to kill you! Hehe!

That's sooooo funny. Why, just today I wrote a blog expressly targetted at people with the marked inability to determine sarcasm in print:

As Nancy J Is Confused

It's the religious right who shoot people (or blow them up) who disagree with them. Or, would reading the news be against your religion?

IamTammy©'s picture

To Nancy~

Um.............'stun gun' was an innocent term, having nothing to do with the alphabetical conversation at hand, and if someone mistook it for something else, that is not my problem, for if I want a point known, I certainly make it that way. If I personally was the way you explained, all of those years I worked the Jerry Lewis Telethon? I could have been frying people left and right and not once did I carry one into the tv stations. Aren't I nice?

Please don't be so quick to judge. That way, people will not feel so inclined to do the same.

IamTammy©'s picture

Walk on water for me~

Here's a point. I'll make it crystal~

I'm not pro, I'm not against. What you do is not my business unless I gave birth to you, or you owe me money.

I did have a statement in here, but instead:

http://bloggerparty.com/walk_on_water_for_me_and_i_wont_have_that_abortion

IamTammy©'s picture

And....

I made that an entry. I typed a lot just for 2 points.

Carry on~

IamTammy©'s picture

P.S. Johhny~

They made it law~ so now, this means parents can move their families to this state and neeeeeeeeeeeeeever have to worry about having knocked-up kids again. Fun times~
