What about Forgiveness?

"Forgiveness"

How good are you at forgiving? How good am I at forgiving?

Forgiveness and unforgiveness are always a decision. Probably few if any person really feels like forgiving. That is not our nature. Rather, forgiveness is a decision. Feelings will probably follow later. But we usually have to set our feelings aside and do the right thing by forgiving the other person.

To live in unforgiveness can cause more problems than the pain which caused the original problem. Unforgiveness is fertile ground for bitterness to grow. ~ The Bible warns us not to let any "bitter root" take hold of us. A bitter root will affect a person's life adversely. Don't let that happen to you, friend. You do yourself a favor to forgive the other person.

While it is true ~ we all should be kind to others so they will not be hurt, sometimes we inadvertantly cause pain for someone else. And it is good to realize that we can cause, as well as receive, pain in relationships. There are many ways in which people misunderstand one another. We all see life from our own perspective. We have all had different experiences which tend to color the lenses through which we view life.

Many years ago I made a decision: "If someone hurts me today, I will forgive, no matter what the reason." I made that committment because of my faith in Christ and in obedience to His Word, the Bible.

I have never been sorry for making that decision to walk in forgiveness. It has occasionally been quite hard to forgive someone. And when that happens I am just honest with the Lord and say a prayer something like this, "Lord God, You know exactly what has happened and how awful that makes me feel. I need your help to forgive that person. So I choose now to forgive that unkindness, and ask You to help me through this ordeal. Please bring about understanding and healing. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen."

Forgiveness is always the way to go.

Blessings on your life,

Kathreen

Maybe its because I have a hard time trusting people and whenever I do trust someone they always lose my trust because of something they do or say. I admit that I hold grudges and I know its not good but I have no problem with it. Since I hold grudges, it helps me not to allow any one to walk all over me or do something to me twice. You might do something to me and I will never look at you the same and I will never forgive you for it. I might not bring it up any more but it will always be there in my mind and I wouldnt trust you again....but yea I just had to say that :)
