I haven't washed my car in six months.... and it shows. So I decided I would go to one of the 'wash it yourself' car washes, because it's cheaper than what I like to call 'the fry guys' car wash (that's the one that you drive into, where your car is assaulted by cleaning machines that resemble the fry guys from Mcdonalds' ads.)
So, I go to the nearest DIY car wash, and I discover that all I have is a $5 and some $20's. Doesn't seem like a problem, until I try to hunt down a change machine... The lone change machine only dispenses tokens. Now, I can wash my car for 2-3 bucks. I don't need $5 in tokens. I can go to the 'fry guys' for 5 bucks...sheesh...
So it's off to the next car wash.. the one I was at was new, pricey and fancy... I figured I'd have better luck at an older cheap-o DIY car wash. There was one near my destination, so I hit it... and it was the same situation. Is this a new trend in DIY car washes ? Only tokens? No straight up change machines that give you quarters? I don't mind having a pocket full of quarters, but I'll be damned if I give them 5 bucks for a 2 dollar car wash.
So, my car is still dirty... and, I'm a bit upset with these cheapskate tactics that the car washes are employing. I may even break down and wash my car at home because of this. That'll teach 'em not to use real money!
On the lighter side, this whole fiasco reminds me of an episode of king of the hill, where Kwan buys a DIY car wash, then laughs because the hillbillies pay someone so that they can wash their own car... It's pretty funny when you think about it...
