Werewolves

The idea of werewolves is a fascinating thought. I don't believe that there are any, as I have not seen or read any scientific proof of their existence. But still, especially with all the movies and romance novels about them, I am fascinated by it.

The first supposed werewolf sighting occured in 1591 in Europe. According to the story, people and dogs chased down a wolf. The villagers started poking the wolf with sticks, just to discover it was a man named Peter Stubbe. While being tortured, Peter Stubbe confessed to 16 murders.

In Europe, during this time, people did not have the modern technology that we have now. They lived by the woods, and cattle was killed constantly by wild animals. I'm sure this fueled their fears as well. Plus, there are known medical conditions that can cause someone to seem "wolf" like. Of course, during that time, the people would have no way of knowing this.
