Well, I Wasn’t Gonna.............

I wasn’t going to have resolutions this year. Mostly I just didn’t have the energy, but also felt like I’m already going in such a positive direction that they weren’t needed. But, then I read catfish’s blog listing his goals and thought it might help me to keep focused if I write it all out. So, they’re not exactly resolutions because they are things I’ve already been planning to do!

1) Get settled in Los Angeles. Ya, a no-brainer, but still noteworthy. It’ll take more than a bit of doing since I’m seriously lacking in a support system there. Er, not that I have one here..........

2) Getting my two internet businesses started. I actually have three, but the last one will be the most time consuming to start, so I’m focusing on the simpler of the three at first. Hopefully, by mid to late 2008 I will have the third going as well. That one will be the real money maker anyway!

3) Getting an agent! Sure, it doesn’t mean that I’ll be able to sit back and wait for the sales to start flying in. But, it will help me tremendously when looking for writing gigs and making those eventual sales!

4) Getting a writing gig! More than ever I’d love to work on a tv show. It was something I’d decided on not long before the hurricane, but after it was too set on moving and pursuing other things. Now that I’ll be in LA, it just makes too much sense to pick up the job search again.

5) Finding a Synagogue near our soon-to-be rented apartment and actually becoming an active member.

6) Market ‘Night of the Jew Dog’ as an e-book and pursue “real” freelance gigs. The former is actually an idea that came from my sons’ step mother! I’d looked into e-books before, but generally thought only of how-to kinds of things ~ forgetting completely the market for fiction. DUH! I now have one short story to market, so why not??? I also want to pick up where I left off with freelance work. Sure, it can be tedious and mind-numbingly boring, but with the right financial incentive, I’m sure I can muddle through! And, hopefully, none of it will include gay porn!

7) Entering my screenplays into contests and festivals and finishing the ones I have going now.

8) My only “frivolous” goal. To join 24 hour fitness and utilize their “biggest loser” promotion. So, even though losing weight is on the agenda, it’s actually more about getting in shape and getting healthy. To my absolute horror, I have attained a “mom body” ~ you know, flat ass and lumpy middle! Oh, HELL NO! I’m not going for cut abs, but my ass WILL get the hell of the backs of my thighs!

9) My last goal is also along the lines of health. I’m actually pretty irritated that I haven’t gotten to the doctor already, but this month I intend to get in there and drugged-up to help me quit smoking. Damnit if it hasn’t been a really rough habit to break! I’m going to request Wellbutrin first, because it’s worked quite dramatically for some. But, if it doesn’t work I’ll get the Chantix turtle crap! But, come hell or high water ~ I WILL BE A NON-SMOKER BY JUNE!

So, there they all are! Most are to do with career, but that’s only because the personal stuff is so on my mind that there’s no way for any of it to fall through the cracks! And, though the list is long, the goals are all quite attainable. If I work on each a little each day, by the end of the year I’ll feel pretty damn fulfilled! Though, I should add that finding a boyfriend is not really so much on my mind anymore. Sure, it’d be really nice, but from what you can see on that list, I have a pretty full plate already ~ all beginning about mid-month!

Sounds like you have enough things to

keep you busy Spooky. Kudos to you for having goals. I have a few myself as I have just posted one of them here in my blog. I have a few more as well.
I need to find a way to make more money that doesn't involve these scams all over the internet.
I have a children's short story that I too want to get published. I know it costs some money, and right now isn't a great time to be out extra expenses.
But it is a goal for me this year.
I don't make resolutions either, But it sounds more accomplished if I say that I have goals for this year, lol.
I have total faith in you that you will accomplish your goals.
Hows that for a start- my great attitude!LOL.

it's a good way to begin, ammorton

I'm a little frustrated today because it's taking soooo long to get everything together and the weather keeps conspiring against me! But, I will make it work! I also had written a childrens book years ago and have thought about re-writting it to market. Try looking into getting a publisher on board, that way you won't have out of pocket expenses. But, self publishing can also be a very good way to go! Good luck with it and keep up that great attitude! I'm working on mine for today! LOL
