Weekend Report: A Test of Endurance

This edition of my weekend report is chock full of activities to report. This weekend included a wedding reception, a visiting friend and a bachelor party that included an open bar. Not to mention the fact that I worked both Saturday and Sunday. So I've decided that I'm gonna go at it day by day.

Friday: I was done with work on Friday at 9:30am. This means I started working at 5:30am. I know, good times. Needless to say a nap was in order for the afternoon. Once I woke up it was time to get ready for the wedding reception. My friend and former co-worker Jesse was getting married. The reception was being held at a place called the Tribeca Rooftop. This is the type of place that I would normally not be let into. So I decided to take advantage of the open bar and bring the place down to my level.

Luckily for the Tribeca Rooftop at around 11pm I got a phone call from my boy Uncle Paulie saying he was at my apartment. Being that he was uptown at my apartment and I was downtown at the reception, we decided to meet in midtown. This is where the night gets hazy so please excuse my lack of details. Checking of my cell phone the next morning would indicate that the night lasted until around 5am. Once again I would give details, but I don't remember them.

Saturday: Today doesn't start until 1pm. Yes one in the afternoon. The worst part of it is when I walked out of my room Uncle Paulie and his friend that had accompanied him already had beers in hand. I followed suit by opening a beer but after one sip I wondered how they could be drinking. I hung around with them for a couple of hours then I headed off to work. I was scheduled to work from 4-9. Let me tell you, on this day I was the last person on the face of the earth that should have been working in any sort of fitness facility.

I finally got off work and returned home to find Uncle Paulie had already headed out to the bachelor party. I used this time to relax a little. I even comtemplated not going out. I finally got the energy to shower and get dressed. I then made the best move of the night: I got my roomie to leave his girlfriend laying on our futon and to join me in a night of drunken debauchery.

We met up with Uncle Paulie at a bar around 11pm. The bar was having a $30 open bar that lasted until 1am. In NYC that is a deal, a damn good deal. Considering that I had $40 to last me the whole night, my drinking pace could be compared to a hungry cheetah chasing a gazelle. I was drinking so fast that I didn't start to feel drunk until well after the open bar was over.

Just as I started feeling drunk (and by drunk I mean absolutely hammered) I met a nice young lady and her two friends. Three of them and three of us, a perfect fit. We continued to drink and "talk" (i'll let you decide what that means) to these ladies for like two hours until they kicked us out of the bar. Since the ladies were going downtown and we were going up we ended the public part of our night at 4am.

We were back at the apartment by 4:30am. My roomie was passed out by 4:45am and me and Paulie decided to have a few more beers. In the process we decided to call everyone in our phone books and leave a message. Drunk dialing is alway a good time. Around 6am I decided I should go to bed considering I had to leave for work at 8:30am.

Sunday: I woke up at 8:35am. Yes, five minutes after I was supposed to leave. After a quick toothbrushing and an even quicker getting dressed I was off to work by 8:45am. I only got there about ten minutes late. Luckily I had two clients so that made the overall four hours I had to be there go pretty quick.

I got home to an empty apartment, thank God, around 1:30pm. I then took the position that I would be in for the rest of the day: I layed down on the futon. I watched the Mets game (they won thanks to David Wright), I checked in on the Masters, I watched Crash (very good movie), and then I finished the Masters (congrats Phil Mickelson). My night ended with the Sopranos (best episode of the season so far) and catching the end of Super Troopers (another good movie).

Good times.

I had to come home and go to a b-day party where the avg child age was 4.

and was full of single mothers.

Some how i ended up entertaining/baby sitting 4 year olds while all the mommies were inside.

And none of those fuckers weren't even mine.

And yea, I'm hurting today. I think I'm taking a week or two off from drinking.
