I make more than half of my income writing tutorials for a company that helps people start their own business. These tutorials are designed to give the prospective business owner the tools needed to get started, but also to convince them that their services are needed.

I recently wrote a tutorial on the wedding planning business. This is one of those businesses that sound wonderful and like a fantasy job, but can quickly turn into a nightmare. Not because it is difficult to do the job well, but because a lot of wedding planners think too small.

No one is going to pay a wedding planner to go to the local print shop and get invitations. People who hire a planner want something different, something better. That is why I am always telling people to 'go online.' Buying wedding invitations online lets the planner display samples the bride would never buy at a local shop.

So, next time you are planning a wedding, or want to start a business, try to think out of the box..ie...online - the whole world will open up to your services.
