Weddings are not my strong suit. There is probably more that I don't know about weddings and wedding etiquette then there is that I do know. When I got this assignment to write about wedding favors I had to do some research. It turns out that wedding favors are small gift that are given to guests at the wedding. Is this in addition to the wedding cake? I am not sure on that.

The Knot Wedding shop has a very large selection of traditional and unique wedding favor gifts. There also have gifts for just about everyone in the wedding, the bridegroom, the bride, the children, the parents, the bridesmaid, the groomsman. Oh but they seem to have left the pianist out. ( My mother is a pianist and has played for many weddings. She usually gets paid and I don't remember her getting a gift. Maybe soft left over flowers once. )

Some favors even have special meanings to them. Sugared almonds for instance, are to remind the guest that life is both bitter and sweet. I suspect that most guest would not get that unless it was explained to them or they have read this blog entry. And how many people go around looking for the meaning in things? That was something I usually only when taking english literature classes.
